Many students who were in foreign language courses said that speaking more rhan one language “widened” their career possabiliries. Other students said they needed to rake foreign language classes because more and more colleges ore odopring a foreign language requirement. While many students rook a foreign language to furrher their education, other students rook the courses because of rhe “fun things” that go on in rhe classroom. Some of rhe “fun things” were ploying foreign games, attending exrro-curriculor evenrs, and singing songs in a foreign longuoge. Dy doing different things to get away from rhe “hir-rhe-book” routine, teachers hoped to get students more involved in dasswork.
