GE: edicated E ducated D evoted I apable C nterested A ttentive act ul I nteresting riginal Needed Mrs. Saunders It takes more than an average teacher to measure up to all of the above characteris- tics. Mrs. Ruth Saunders is not an ordinary teacher. She is all of the above and more. Mrs. Saunders works to bring her students more than the everyday monotonous type of English class. She tries hard to make the lessons interesting and alive. Just as important as this, is her attitude toward the students in her classes. They are not seat numbers, marks or names in a roll book or on a class list. Each and every child is an individual with interests, capabilities and problems. We are aware of Mrs. Saunders contribution to the school. She has worked here many years benefiting countless students. She has been a real asset to the school. She and teachers like her will always be needed in school systems. Therefore, we proudly dedicate this yearbook to her in gratitude for all she has done for Richburg Central School. wh, 4 ' if 2 '-1' 'WTUYW-2P?'Bx? Here at Richburg, we are fortunate to have Mr. Forness, Mr. Umiker and Miss Updyke as our administrators. Many of us do not realize what a job they have. They are responsible not only to the Board of Education but to the general public as well. Their decisions de- termine the educational welfare of the en- tire student body. Many times their de- cisions must be prompted by consider- ations of what is best for the school, even if it does not coincide with their personal wishes. Moreover, they must understand the students and their needs in order to guide them. As students here at R. C. S., we would like to think of them as friends as well as administrators. We, the class of 1969, wish to thank our advisors, Mrs. Ruth Young and Mr. Kenneth Pike, for all they have done for us. Since our Sophomore year when Mrs. Young and Mr. Pike were 'gawardedn our class, we have held numerous activities including paper drives, candy sales, Christmas card and magazine sales and who could forget? THE JUNIOR PLAY! From all these activities we have earned enough to go to Washington, D.C. and Williamsburg. When we leave Richburg we will always look back with fond memories on all our activities, joys, and frustrations. We thank you again, Mrs. Young and Mr. Pike for all of your time and guidance. Class Prophecy 1979: MARTY BARKLEY, that brilliant scientist, discovers FIRE. His partner, JOANNE BARTOO aided him in capturing it. Their search party in- cluded ART PETTIT carrying a club and dragging DEBBIE BENEDICT, his wife, by her hair. On the way, they were stampeded by CHRIS HARVEY and PAM FREEMAN battling it out over LARRY LITTLE. When they discovered fire, it happened to be in the demilitarized zone between the villages of Chief CURT MCCULLOUGH and Chief ROBERT MULLEN fbetter known as LAURA KUHN'S and BARB PETTIT'S husbandsj. It was the wives who made the worthy contribution to mankind. Meanwhile, in the other side of the continent, the former CAROL LOUCKS is aiding her husband, TOM MOYER in completing the square wheel. It was needed for the kiddie car belonging to the former NANCY MOYER'S 20 chil- dren. In due time, it was rounded out. When the news of this great discovery was broken, those notorious criminals PAT MOSES and KAY MUCHA were de- termined to try it out with Ray Jordan. In order to get their hands on it they enlisted the aid of MARCIA LOCKE and AUDREY MOYER for the capture. On the chosen night, their plans were foiled by BOB EDWARDS who was hen- pecked into getting it by his stingy wife LOIS EDWARDS. In the deep dark sea, plans were being made by TOM ROBINSON and JOHN FEELEY to invade the village of MARTIN BUTTS, the world's most backward native of all times. Two of his 5,000 wives BONNIE BARTOO and CONNIE HOWARD heard through their underground connections GARY FANCHER and MIKE NEU, of this plan. They began to prepare with an atomic bomb made by RALPH JAMES, the great electrician. Since there was no rocket fuel, RICHARD DUNBAR came to the rescue by offering his leaky muffler as a substitute launcher. The problems are not over yet, they are waiting for the class of '70 to patch up the damage. Since most of the players had never had previous experience in playing Varsity Basketball, their 8- 4 league record and 10-9 overall record has shown their spirit and will to beat tougher teams. The starting five were Steve Cook, Ted Whitcher, Art Pettit, Martin Barkley, and Terry Neudeck. Their average was 57 points per game. Highlights of the season were our wins over Belmont and a last quarter defeat over Whitesville. The team went to the sectionals against Wyoming, but were defeated be- cause of an injury of our captain, Martin Barkley, and previous injuries of two other boys. Our individual honors go to Steve Cook, First Team Allegany Class D All-Stars, and Ted Whitcher, who was sleected for second team honors. 50 Friendship 37 38 Rushford 72 53 Belmont 42 67 Hinsdale 89 75 Canaseraga 59 60 Andover 74 64 Belfast 79 66 Friendship 54 80 Whitesville 5 l 67 Angelica 5 7 49 Hinsdale l 16 63 Rushford 94 57 Belmont 48 70 Canaseraga 66 52 Belfast 98 46 Andover 65 55 Whitesville 47 69 Angelica 61 Sectional Play-Off Game 42 Wyoming 51 A ! But that fact is not enough. Where? Who is fighting whom? What is the conflict about? How will it affect world tension and political maneuvering? You want-and you deserve- to know more than one flash fact. Pro- viding the answers is a responsibility assumed by your newspaper. Death - caused by nature's ravages or by man's hand-strikes in some part of the world. But that fact's not enough. Where? Who did what to whom? Why? How are we involved? Your news- paper provides the answers, bringing you thorough coverage, careful analysis, maps and pictures. A siren sounds in the middle of the night. A close friend's oldest daughter is married. Your fa- vorite team wins a football game. Death claims a man whom you have respected all of your life. Flash facts are not enough. You want-and you deserve-to know far, far more. Your newspaper assumes the important responsibility of meeting that need. This is a iob done by men and women who have the experience and the know-how needed to report and edit the news, to produce and distribute an informative, entertaining and all-new product each day-your newspaper.
