It is a busy principal, a concerned guid- ance counselor, hardworking secretaries, and a learned teacher. It is a skilled musician, an inquisitive student, a tense athlete, or an energetic cheerleader. A school is many young minds beginning to grow and marvel over the wonder of learn- mg. A school is brimming with motion, alive with action, and filled with colors. It is the joys and sorrows that are a part of life and memories both good and bad. We, the Quill Staff, sincerely hope that We have captured a small part of life at Richburg Central School in the 1966-1967 yearbook. Students and faculty alike have a great deal of respect for you and what you stand for. Therefore, in view of the enormous progress which you have brought to Richburg, we the 1966-1967 Quill Staff gratefully dedicate our yearbook to you, MR, BRUCE T. FORNESS, After graduating from Olean High School, Mr. Forness attended Oswego State College. He then went on to St. Bonaventure University where he received his Princi- pal Certification. During his teaching career, he taught such subjects as Industrial Arts, Mechanical Drawing, Seventh Grade Science, Welding, Woodworking, Ceramics and Driver Training in Lyon Mountain Union Free School, Naples Central School, and Portville Central School, He also served as Adult Education Director in Portville. Mr. Forness has found time to be active in community affairs also. He has di- rected a Junior-Senior Church Group, served on the Executive Committee of the Sene- ca Council Boy Scouts, acted as chairman of the March of Dimes, held the office of both president and secretary of the Portville Kiwanis, and was a member of the Exec- utive Committee of the Portville Mens' Club. These make up only a small part of the list of groups he has been associated with. In 1965, Richburg welcomed Mr. Forness as the new principal. We feel that he has helped immensely to keep the school running smoothly and efficiently during these two years. We hope that he will remain at Richburg Central School for many years to come. fSifQ5':.'23:ifjzs3ffgL-M nz. lp 7 4:33. The teachers Who have worked with Mrs. Hill describe her as cooperative, possessinga good sense of humor, and having a great deal of vitality. Her room is always artistically decorated and she fascinates her students with films and stories of the many places she has journeyed to. Mexico City, Hawaii, Florida, and Cali- fornia are among the places she has visited. Not only are her films interesting and educational for the children, but she also wears jewelry which pretains to the area of the world they are studying. In Memoriam R uth Barkley 1949-67 A few weeks ago, our Senior Class went on our long awaited trip to Washington, D.C. We each have many happy memories from there. Perhaps one of the things that made this trip so much fun was our class being together and getting to know one an- other much better than we'd ever had a chance to before. Since that time one of our members, Ruth Barkley, who was to have been the Valedictorian of our class, passed away May 2, 1967. The class has suffered a great loss and shall always have fond memories of Ruth. Ruth was a very active member of 4-H for 10 years which took up much of her time, especially since she was President of the Older Group last year. She won two County Award trips for outstanding 4-H work. In March she went to Albany and also was selected to make a four day trip to Expo '67 at Montreal. Without her long hours of hard work and dedication, this year's Quill would not have been edited. She was President of the National Honor Society this year, and was always a very active member of the Class of '67. A FRIEND IS GONE AND SO IS PART OF EACH OF US. if 59191 Q41 . ?f 7,.r! Joan Burdick P-Sam, , , , Dave Beggey Assistant Director , , Rory McLaughlin Delicia , , , Cathy Speta Director. , ..... . . Mrs. Maxson THE STORY Henry and George, two rather lazy cousins, find themselves in an embarrassing situation with no money to pay a demanding landlady. The two receive money from an old friend who is sending his daughters and wishes them to be entertained. In order to keep the girls with them Henry and George need a chaperon, but the house-boy, P-Sam solves the problem when he finds a grey wig and black dress near the apartment house. The girls arrive with their maid, Delicia, who makes a hit with P-Sam. Helen and Cecile become fond of Grandma , Cecile helps make Grandma's life easier by con- tinually kissing her . Meanwhile, Helen and Henry are becoming very close friends. Police investigators and the landlady, Mrs. Lennox, make it necessary for Grand- ma to disappear entirely in order that Mrs. Lennox can have her clothes back. The girls and Delicia demand to know whether there has been a real chaperon or not. The story ends with the prospect of three sets of wedding bells ringing ,,,.. or three sets of necks being wrung! In their defeats they never lost by more than five points. All the 66-67 games were either won or lost by such a small margin that it made all the students, players included, support their team with vigor. High scorers this season were Van Rickicki with 320 points, Jim Dick with 192 and John Bullock with 201, Van was chosen for the All-Star team of 66-67. Next year's team should be the championship team with players like these boys! On behalf of the student body We would like to thank the Varsity players for the sea son they played.
