Before 1927 VVest Clarksville
School was only a small, two-room
wooden structure with an average
attendance of fifty students in the
first eight grades. It was voted to
consolidate with Richburg in 1938
when a larger and more modern
building was erected for the first

The school was built in 1864
and rebuilt in 1880, on what was
then known as the H. H. Barber
place. The first eight grades were
taught here and high school stu-
dents went into Portville until
IQ-I-3 when the district centralized
with Richburg. '
ln 1936 the school had de-
creased froxn about thirty students
to twenty-one and as there were
only nine students in the first six
grades, the remaining grades came
