Since the beginning of tall ships and adventurous men, there has heen a need for a practical navigator. Une who wouldnt navigate his ship oft the edge of the earth, hut to distant lands of unknown treasures and for- tunes. Past clown through time from our forefathers, the quartermasters job has progressed from days of crude yet effective celestial navigation methods to todays modern satellite tracking navigation with it's pinpoint accuracy. Though technology has made our job easier, a view through a sextant evokes colorful memories of wind filled sails on a starlit horizon. Nevertheless, time stands still for the quartermaster for the responsibility of safe navigation will never change with time.
