We are the guys that move the material that move the ship. Our every- day atmosphere involves work- ing with chosen supply petty of- ficers from each work center to ensure that they get the right piece of equipment that is re- quired to run our ships many different functions. We as store- keepers maintain a heavy work- load to obtain an accurate inven- tory of over thirty thousand re- pair parts that are of the utmost importance to ensure that we re- main ready to give 100476 if we are called upon for our nations defense. l U A proud papa! When one thinks of the various jobs on a navy ship, images of booming guns, fiery missles and strong men heaving lines gener- ally come to mind. Indeed, these most visible jobs may at first glance appear to be the back- bone of a fighting ship. Yet a team is only as strong as the in- dividuals who make it, their comfort, morale and general atti- tude is a tremendous factor in their willingness to keep on working hard as each day passes. lt is in this respect that my rate is of great importance to me. By providing a clean set of clothes, a candy bar, and a coke when a person wants it can make each day a little nicer.
