lConcluded1 On August 23, 1954, two hard years were almost ended, and we received our black bands, at a very impressive ceremony. Now we were Senior nurses, with only 365 days to go before we became graduates. Senior officers were elected, and Bonnie Jacox was elected President, with Betty Jones, Vice President, Gerry Wiggins, Secretary, and Betty Caviness, Treasurer. The main purpose of this year, besides graduating, was to get this annual printed. Hard work was done by all, and to press it finally wentl The Jr.-Sr. was held on April 29, 1955, at the Raleigh Woman's Club, and this was a very nice affair, 'with a banquet before in the Rec Room of the Nurses's Home. Many parties and picnics were given the seniors, and Baccalaureate was held on May 29, 1955, at White Memorial Church, the anniversary of our capping. Finally on June third, Graduation! Although we had to give up our white uniforms for our stripes until August 24, that was a big night for everyone. August 24 came with thirty-three proud girls leaving as Graduate nurses, awaiting the day of State Boards, and those R.N.'s. We were a little larger than thirty-three, however, as we had five husbands, one baby, with eight weddings planned for the fall. Our class has probably been noted as the most stubborn class ever to enter Rexfbut we usually got what we went out for. r After three years together, it was hard for August 24 to come, because we knew we would be sepa- rated. Some of us stayed at Rex, some went into the serivce, and others were married and kept house. All in all, it was a wonderful three years, and Rex Hospital is still standing, even if we did give it a hard time l l Historian Remember when Dickie Darling and Cudclles had their funeral, 'and went down in historyl?--or was it the roof ? ? ? i
