Class Histo ry Our 53 pirate crew drew up the anchor late in 1949 with 37 aboard Being alert to the necessity of able leadership we chose Elizabeth Strannlgan and Donald Baker to lead us assisted by Larry Welsh Clayton Brown and Wilma Lowe Mike Sawlck and Ray Fortuna won honors at the junior high tournament at Evanston as the frosh captured first place Louise Thomas and Lois Mecca were chosen to represent our class as cheerleaders At this pomt Gary Greenhalgh rejoined our ranks and our first year of high school drew to a close As a three month vacation ended xt found the remaining members of our crew eagerly awaiting coming events Clayton Brown took on the duties of captain assisted by Gary Greenhalgh and Ray Fortuna We enjoyed The Sunbonnet Girl musical comedy FHA trips and the yearly speech festival Those following music courses achieved recognition at the Kemmerer music festival and the Green River and ackson band concerts Frieda Tryon joined our crew just before the Christmas Cantata Dr :wing up at Sophomore Island Bill M3Stf0VlCh Don Baker Alex Perakls Paul Chetterbock Proctor Lescoe Raymond Mathias Louise Thomas and Laura Franc bade us farewell and we sailed on Our junior year progressed even faster than expected Larry Welsh assumed Coet became a welcome addition to our number The unlor Play Wanted a Hero proved a smash hit Football and basketball seasons passed very quickly followed by the long awaited arrival of our class rings The climax of that year was the wonderful umor Prom Dreamland and our participation ln Commencement Week by escorting the semors of 1952 to their graduation As the cruise ended Ernie Fresques Josephine Kragovich and George Goddard decided to leave the Pirate ship and to sail under other colors We set sail for Graduation Bay with a crew of twenty four aboard and with an exciting course charted Sports was a leader for honors as the football team tied for first in the district and the basketball team enjoyed a successful season The laughable Semor Play Every Family Has One followed by the colorful Senior Hop Winter Wonderland brought the first semester to a close The last semester moved rapidly forward with music and speech students preparing for their respective festivals As the 53 pirate ship sailed into harbor on May 20 the triumphant strains of pomp and Clrcumstance greeted those on board O , . . y . l . 9 7 Y .
