SENIOR PLAY The entire cost. With a background of honky-tonk tunes and entirely new sets this yearls Senior Play, i'Gold in the Hillsv, scored a huge success. It represented something completely new in the annals of Senior Play history. With a mustache twirling villain and wide eyed heroine, the play grossed much interest in the best of l89O melo- drama traditions. It unfolded the tale of Nell Stanley, who is led from the old homestead along the ruinous road to THE CITY, whence she returns for the inevitable happy ending. The director, Mr.- Jerry Wulk, received great plaudits for his first presentation at Redondo. Assisting in the direetorship were Myra Taylor and Pat Hawker. The excellent cast was headed by Sally Spanos as Nell, Harold Simms as her hero, john Dalton, and the villainous Richard Murgatroyd enacted by Ralph Netz. Also included in the east were Mary W'allenberg, Bev Gaston, Burton Karson, Jerry Littlejohn, Pete Sternad, Karl Detzer, Jackie de Sorda, Robert Kent, Dolores Falcone, Don Summers, Christina Hertel, JoAnne Peuser, and Joan Swift. Others on the riotous program were Nancy O'Rourke, Jack Heard, Ted Wall, Don Dunlap, John Van Lear, Joy Tynell, Sally Lenahan, Dick Franklin, and Jo Grimsgaard. Production manager was Bruce Folkart, and Sally Hix served as pianist. Make-up was under the direc- tion of .Io Grimsgaard, Sally Lenahan was costume mistress. Publicity was handled by Pat O,Neill, tickets. by Sally Duncan. Lynn Blackford handled programs. Jim Dragge and Gordon Taylor gave tremendous help as stage hands. I am Hcwkshow, the detective! The main players on the team were Glenn Finley, Harlan Geach, and Ken Swearingen who made the All Bay League team. They were backed up by such players as Fred London, Bill Bluejacket, Bill Hite, Lowell Brown, Jerry Proctor, Stan Becker, Bob VVeiss, Bart Natisin, Dave Summers, John Cobabe, and John King. The Seahawks started out the season with a 21 to 0 win over Long Beach Wilson. One of their best games of the season was the Inglewood game. Scoring early in the first quarter, the Seahawks held the highly favored Sentinels to a 6 to 0 lead at half time. We seemed to be headed for victory until several of our first stringers went out of the game because of injuries, and then Inglewood scored a 28 to 6 win. The Beehawks went through the Bay League schedule 'with only one defeat which was their final game against Santa Monica for the championship. The tcam's chances were bolstered with the return of several veterans from last year's team. Bob Gitmed, Mel Abajian, Ted Wall, Doug Dick, Toby Erlinger, Gordie Owen, Marty Stevens, George Wessel, Don Beall, Carl Lewis, Ronnie Swick,, Red Bowden, and Lloyd Gilman. These boys were aided by Hrst year boys: Bob Goldstone, Bob Brouws, Harry Weaver, Roy Scharer, Kenny Nakauchi, Bill Zinsley, and Bob Sha:-Her.
