The first two games were played under the lights at Wyoming Field a- gainst Mackenzie and traditional rival Cooley. The Huskies won both by iden- tical scores of 13-7, using their pass- ing attack sparingly and depending on a good defensive line to hold their op- ponents. After a slow start, they won num- ber three at the expense of Southwest- ern, 27-6, scoring three touchdowns in the second half. By the fourth week of the season, the Redford machine was really rolling, and it crushed North- western, 31-0, on four touchdowns and two safeties. A X, iw.. . . ' Af eettiiull '22 . The Huskies had to come from behind to beat the Metropolitan League Champs of '51, 18-4. Ablocked punt with a re- covery in the end zone provided the ne- cessary margin. The Huskies played their non-league contest against North- eastern, scoring nine touchdowns towin 57-0. Chadsey then spoiled an otherwise perfect season by defeating the Huskies, 21-13, in the final game of the year. This put the Huskies in a tie for second place with Chadsey , leaving U. of D. While the spectator watches only the action of the players, the photographer in reality sees two games: one on the field and another in the stands. Our photo editor has taken a drawing pen in H hand to present his somewhat concentrated, slightly exaggerated, but highly accurate picture of the unsung heroes and heroines of the cheer- Q t ing section. CLARK Principal Dear Seniors: A This edition of the BLAZER reaches you ata time when, withina few days , farewells will be in order. May I speak for the faculty tlu'ough this medium? We, who have had a share in imparting the education you have acquired while here at Redford, hope that this education has been far broader than training. It is relatively simple--as well as enormously important-- to train people for specific jobs and skills. But the more difficult job is the task of education. To educate a person does not mean to educate him for a specific job. It means rather to educate him so that he understands himself and the society in which he lives. Only then can he choose intelligently, and on good grounds, the job he is best suited for-and more generally the kind of life he is going to live. When you leave here next week, the paths that will be chosen will be many and varied--college, job, marriage, or military service will start you in different directions. Wherever you go, towhatever future there is in store for you, we all hope for you that the imprint of Redford will serve to steady you in facing the problems that lie ahead. We hope that we have in some way enabled you to see how you and what you do are related to the world around you. Wherever the future beckons, you carry our best wishes for success and happiness. Sincerely your friend, ily? Homer A.
