OUT OF THE PAST: The Alumni Association of Reading High School, formed in 189-I, inforporated this purpose in its charter.' 'The agitation and support of the erection and equipment of a free public library for the city of Reading. Wfovements for the establishment of a free library in this city date from 1764, when a meeting for the purpose 'was held at the Widow Drury's. Only on January 5, 1898 was the Reading Library made free for public use.
