r Wlvlmlll SENIOR CLASS TRIP YPICHL of the true pioneer spirit, members of the Class of l938 were the first to attempt a class trip covering an entirely new and especially inclusive route. This journey took the form of a cruise up the East River to Bridgeport, Connecticut. On the morning of May 28, alarm-clocks were hardly necessary to arouse Reading High Seniors, despite the tact that their train left Beading at 6:45 Q. M. Rn especially noticeable feature about the students happily leaving the home town tor one day was the prominent display of class colors, royal blue and white. Once the students had boarded the boat, festivity-in such forms as dancing, promenading, and sightseeing--reigned supreme. Hnd such sights as there were-Governors Island, Statue ot Liberty, the Narrows, Hell Gate Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Welfare Island, and many others. lt may truly be said that this year's graduating class showed individualism in undertaking a trip such as this and executive ability in bringing about its com- plete success. Rlmlllllm SENIOR ASSEMBLY ITH the aid of Dutch caps, tulip beds, and Wooden shoes, one of the final events of the Senior school year-namely, the l938 Senior Hssembly-was presented to a fascinated student and teacher body on .Flpril 29, 1938. Pill preparations necessary for the final performance of this delightful musical romance was either made directly or supervised by the Senior Illssembly Committee. This group, in representing the class, selected the script submitted by Hrthur Watson, and proceeded with the task of doing all in its power to make this Senior Hssembly a smashing success. Nipped in the Bud deals with Katrinka Van BunkerbootCCarolyn Kissingerj and Iakob Von Standaloot Cljrank Baumanl, a Dutch boy and girl thwarted in their romance by par- ents Who are in turn rivals in a national tulip raising contest. The roles of the parents were taken by Doras Smith, William Good, Regina Leszczynska, and Ioseph Sandler, the Gov- ernment Messenger by Lloyd Miller, and the Minister by Forrest Laufer. H dancing chorus and a singing chorus gave, with their respective artistic contributions, added zest to the play. One of the outstanding features of the production Was the very novel and colorful stage arrangement. The presentation of this successful piece of dramatic Work marked the passing of an occa- sion dreamed of for three high school years and planned with the greatest of hopeful an- ticipation and happiness.
