Class Histor We interrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin. On May 16, 1958 at 8:00 o'clock, it happened. From the hallowed halls of Ravenswood High School came forth the most surprising, unpredictable class this school has ever known. At last September came, and Ravenswood High School opened its doors to fifty -eight green freshmen. Much to the teachers' dismay, the halls were kept in an uproar by our excitement, but we soon settled into routine. We elected Rae Cox, presidentg Darry Fox, vice-president, Jim Divers, treasurer, and Norma Shockey, secretary. Jane Miller won the local Forensic Con- test and competed with Parkersburg. Miss Gillaspie and Mr. Louke were our sponsors. Our sophomore year we elected Ronald Morgan, president, Carrington Cox, vice -president, Everett Moss, secretary, and Troy Rhodes, treasurer. Having become acquainted with the teachers and students, we began to join clubs and ac- tivities. Again Jane Miller competed in the state Forensic finals held at Morgantown. After a short three-month vacation, we came back as juniors ready to take over some of the responsibility. We elected Darry Fox, president, Jim Divers, vice-president, Ken Kelly, secretary, and Carol Ferguson, treasurer. Under the guidance of Miss Gillaspie, Mrs. Elizabeth Knotts, and Mr. Cox, our Junior-Senior banquet was a huge success. The theme was Hitch Your Wagon to a Star. Jeanne Morrow, Rae Cox, Ardean Lindley, and Sandra Smith were elected to Girls' State and Darry Fox was elected to Boys' State. We came back in the fall of 1957 ready to take up our responsibilities as seniors. Fourteen of our senior boys participated in one of the greatest football teams ever to come out of Ravens- wood High School. The Class B Champs. Ken Kelly, Darry Fox, and Ronnie Proudfoot were co-captains. Our class officers were Faye Safreed, president, Ronald Patterson, vice-president, Bill McKinley, secretary, and Ken Kelly, treasurer. Ronnie Proudfoot was elected president of Student Council. Ardean Lindley was crowned Miss Red Devil and Jim Divers, Mr. Red Devil. Our sponsors were Mrs. Olive Mason, Miss Lettie Gillaspie, and Mr. Gay Cox. We are now ready to face the future. As we go out to take our place in the world, our fondest memories will always be our four years at R,H,S, Our goals have been high and our honors have been many. May our success in life show the fine guidance and leadership we have had from the faculty at R,H.S. Therefore, we the Senior Class of 1958, bid to our Alma Mater, Ravenswood High School and our fellow students a sad farewell, 20
