Basketball Season 1956-57 Ravenswood started off with a flash by downing the Gilmore Pirates 64-46 in their opener. The Red Devils then made it two in a row by edging out arch-rival Ripley 63-61, on the 11th of December. Ravenswood lost its first game of the season as Chatteroy downed the locals 67-50. On the 18th of December the Red Devils journeyed to Pt. Pleasant where they were clobbered 78-40. The Red Devils raised their record to 3 wins and 2 losses as they trounced the Alumni 56-41. Returning to action from the holidays Ravenswood traveled to Mason City only to meet defeat 68-46. The following night, Ripley got revtnge for an earlier defeat by squeezing by the Red Devils 64-63. On January 8th Ravenswood lost its third in a row at Spencer by a count of 70 to 60. The Red Devils returned home and handed the Buffalo liisons a 57-50 setback in quite' a thriller. Resting a week the locals journeyed to Walttmri where they defeated the Tigers 74-67 to gain their third LKC triumph. The Red Devils racked up a 71-61 decision over Elizabeth for their third straight win and 4-2 in LKC action. Ravenswood stretched their winning streak to four games, their longest of the season. by repending Gilmore 57-54 on the losers floor. The Wahama White Falcons ended the Red Devils winning streak by sinking the locals 78-69. Spencer downed the Red Devils 68-54 in a game at the Yellow Jackets' hi-me floor. The Calhoun Red Devils upset the Ravenswood Red Devils 59-55 in a nip and tuck game all the way at Ravenswood. Ravenswood romps over Elizabeth 68-58 for the second of this season to upper their LKC record to 6 wins and 4 loss. The Walton Tigers gave the Red Devils a scare before the locals edged out a 63-60 decision in the last minute of play. Once again Ravenswood was upset by the slow Calhoun quintet 55-51 to end the LKC season for Ravenswood at 7-5. The Ravenswood Red Devils scared the Big Blacks stiff before falling victim in the last quarter 88-76. The Red Devils ended the regular season in fine fashion by shalacking the Buffalo Bisons 75-60. 44
