IK GCI HIS year, the uncertainties of the future have taken on unusual significance for the young people of our community and nation. They are compelled by circumstances beyond their control to view the future with more than usual apprehension. The happy events of the past year recorded here in picture and story are viewed more soberly by young people as they contemplate their places in a world of unrest and turmoil. Today our youth are asked to place service to their country ahead of service to themselves. This means that normal careers such as high- er education, business, and establishment of homes may have to wait until the present gen- eration of young people take time out of their lives again to defend our American Way of Life . It is the fervent hope of all of us whose lives have been spent with yotmg people that another world war can still be averted, so that our youth once again can live normal, peaceful and happy lives. ' This message is given by H. L. Brown, Superintendent of Ravenna Schools. Mr. Brown has a bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Union and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University. DUCATION is, without doubt, the most ex- I citing and at the same time most gratifying of the creative arts. Its raw material is the mind of youth, its formula is the wisdom of the ages, and its product, the citizens of our dem- ocrac . Is it any wonder that one thrills to the y ii title of educator? These views on education are expressed by Wayne E. Watters who is the principal at Ra- venna High School. Mr. Watters has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from Hiram College and Kent State University. 9
