A, Chapter is now in its fourth year under the direction of Mr Earl McLeod. This year we have 53 members participating. Some of the activities planned are demonstration teams in Parliamentary Procedure and Public Speaking. The primary aim of the F. F.A, is the development of agriculture, leadership, co- operation, and citizenship, Under the instruction of Mr. Donald Hazen, boys learn to make cedar chests, tables, they learn fundamentals of electricityg and how the car operates. The Bulldogs tied for second place in NCAA with Grant, losing the championship game with Cedar Spring 26 to 13 in the season's Q final game. The Ravenna Bulldogs completed a successful season in 1955-56 winning 9 and losing 8. The Bulldogs placed fourth in the NCAA conference. The highlites of the season were the Bulldogs victory over Kent City and Baldwin. The Kent City game proved to be one of Ravenna's better games with the boys hitting 4270 of their shots. The Bald- win game was one of the biggest upsets in the NCAA play during the 55-56 season. The Bulldogs won 83 to 68 play- ing great ball offensively and defensively. Jim Christopher sled the Bulldogs in scoring with 264. points, Gene Sullivan with 234, George Bennett with 241. The Bulldogs lose 3 seniors, with 'I returning for the 56+5'7' squad. Thompson, J. Young. The little Bulldogs of Ravenna High ended the 1955-56 basketball year on the lowvend of a 10-7 season. A greatly improved team this yearg the reserves were led by Gus Asmus who compiled a total of 227 points in fifteen ball games for a season's game average of 15 points. Several of the team's outstanding individuals were freshman and high hopes'were packed in the moth ball and game uniforms for next year. 1 The Bulldogs won 3 and lost 4 during the 1955 season. Coach Finny Hale fielded a veteran team but the squad never reached the highlights that were expected. M. Thompson and G. Bennett filled the battery, J. Christopher at Firstg B. Jones at Second, G. Portenga at Thirdg and A. Meyers at Shortstop. T. Boozer, J. Lass, M. Morey and T. Broton formed the outfield. Grant Kent City Hesperia White Cloud Cedar Springs Newaygo Baldwin The Bulldogs opened their track season with 32 participating. The Kent City highlight of the years activity came in the conference meet at Cedar Springs Cedar Springs with a fifth place finish.
