Bennett, Mang. T. Burton. CO-Captains, Bruce Jones Albert Meyers. Most valuable player, Albert Meyers. Coach Finney Hales's team gave the fans some exciting thrills during the 1954-55 season. Out of the 16 league games played, the Bulldogs won eight and lost eight, losing some by a very close margin. In NCAA competition our fighting Bulldogs took third place. They broke the school's team scoring record when they ma e 1,030 points in 16 games. The highlight of the year was whengour boys won the District harnpionship by defeating White Cloud in a thriller that was fight-to-the finish-for both teams The Bulldogs will travel to Ionia for Regional Tournament play. A new individual scoring record was set when Bruce Jones made 40 points against Hesperia. Bruce led the season, scoring with 280 points. Coach Townsend's reserves closed the season with a record of four wins and twelve losses. Although losing some close games, the boys had fine spirit throughout the sea- son. Outstanding scorer for the season was Jesse Flores who made a 147 points in 13 games. Season Captain and most valuable was Ron Spink. JUNIOR HIGH Ravenna's Little Bull- dogs came through their basketball season with fighting spirit although the records show an unsuccess ful season. Windberg, Our powerful baseball nine snagged a title for R. H. S. when they tied Newaygo for the leadership. The Bulldogs had a very successful season winning five and los- in two. g Jim Shirey's no-hit, no-run pitching against Hesperia was the R I highlight of the season. Jim faced 23 batsmen and struck out 14. - ' -E Season Captain, Maynard Thompson, catcher, was the teams O ' leading hitter with a .435 average. A1 Meyers was a close second with . 29. Tom Boozer and Maynard Thompson lead the team in f N stolen bases. with six, and Tom led the team in scoring with ll run. Five major and three minor letter winners will return to form the 1955 squad. High school teachers and their wives were invited to attend. Everyone came in Roman costume and prizes were given for the best costume. For entertainment there was wrestling matches, acrobatics, a Roman wedding and a Roman funeral. The three course dinner was served in courses by senior Slaves , and followed traditional Roman food selection. HOT LUNCH About 155 students Sal at our hot lunch program everyday.
