Captain J. Lloyd Abbot, Jr. Chief of Staff Captain J. Lloyd Abbot, Jr., was born in Mobile, Ala., on June 26, 1918. He graduated from the Naval Academy and Was commissioned an ensign in 1939. Upon graduation he served in the Enterprise and then in flight training he served in the South Pacific during WWII. officer of Fighter Squadron 42 aboard the F. D. Roosevelt Utility Squadron 4. He served as operations officer and then Champlain in 1955. With the staff of Commander Carrier Division TWO in Coral Sea, F. D. Roosevelt, and Randolph. In 1960 he was Valcour and in 1961 he commanded the Intrepid. Captain Abbot served on the staffs of the Chief of Nav Naval Air Basic Trainingg at OpNav in Washington, D. Forces Staff Collegeg and as executive odicer of Bancroft llnll He married the former lVlarjorie Gi'i.1l'ilis ol' Norfolk, Va., B353 9 daughter. the Gilmer.
