Captain George C. Duncan Commanding Officer Captain George C. Duncan reported to Ranger from the USS Jupiter CAVS-Sl where he had served as commanding officer since June 1961. He was born in Tacoma, Wash. on Feb. 11, 1917. and received his commission as an ensign from the Naval Academy in 1939. After serving aboard the West Virginia from June 1939 to August 1941, he entered tiight training at Pensacola, Fla., and was designated a naval aviator in February 1942. During WWII, Captain Duncan served in the Louisville in 1942 and 1943. He completed tighter pilot training and then served as executive otlicer of Fighter Squadron 15 aboard the Essex until his detachment to post graduate school at Annapolis in March 1945. Since WWII, he has served on the Staff of ComNavAirPacg commanding otlicer ot' Fighter Squadron 51 and Fighter Squadron 101, Commander, Carrier Air Group FlYEg Head, Fighter Aii'cr:it't Design Branch, BuAer, Assistant Director, Aircraft Division of BuWeps: and executive otlicer ot' the lfoi-1-egllil, Captain Duncan, his wife, Agnes, and their tour children reside at 2l25 Central ave., Altnnetla, Calif. A K'-' U I Captain Kenneth F. Rowell Executive Officer Captain Kenneth F. Rowell Was born Oct. S, 1920 in Derby Line, Yt. He attended Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, Vt., for two years before entering' the Navy Ll an aviation cadet in 1941. He was commissioned an ensign in June 1942. In 1943 and 1944 he served in Fighter Sc uadron 26. Since then he has been fissienet' L, l to Attack Squadron 44, Composite Squadron 5, served as executive otticer and coinniqniding officer of Heavy Attack Squadron 7, coinnianded Heavy Attack Squadron 3, and server aboard the Palau. Ashore, Captain Rowell has attended Brown University in Providence, ll. l., has been a student at the General Line School and Survival School, and twice has been assigner the Naval War College under instruction. l l He was assigned to the Naval Air Station, Atlantic City, N.
