YWZJWZ Ymyfz iff Spring of l959 was the beginning of Randolph's gol- den year of championships. Baseball had its greatest sea- son--l7 wins, no losses, For the second year in a row Ran- dolph took the l-lockamock League Championship and participated in the Massachusetts Baseball Tournament. Highlights of the seasoni Phil Carlino's fine hitting and pitching-and 8-O record on the mound. Says Coach O'Brien, Phil is not only a good pitcher, he is the best infielder in the league. Also pitching in the no loss cate- gory: Joe Burns and Joe Zapustas with twin 4-O records. Outlook for l96O with the strength of the fifty-nine sea- son still with us? Great! Coach O'Brien has led Ran- dolph to two diamond cham- pionships in two years. Champions of the Hockamock League, Front row, seat- Krauss, Roger Kelliher, Phil Carlino, Joe Zapustas, ed: Bobby Brodil, winner of the Joseph Daly Trophy for Richie Szum, Joe Burns, Bruce Perry, Ed Doucette and Most Valuable Player, Richie Alden, Paul Peterson, Bobby Zapustas, manager. Bobby Gale, Bill Kelley. Back row: Coach O'Brien, Ray 95

Back row: Manager Walter Tapp, Jason Rozenberg, Joe Burns, Jim Robinson, Roger Kelliher, Mike Connolly, Norm Tardiff, Allen Silverman and Coach Silk whose patience, skill and drive mode it all possible. This was the year for sports at R.H.S. and basketball was no excep- tion. Coach Silk's '60 club swept over the first five opponents before drop- ping one to Foxboro and then it was ten straight wins to tie the Hockomock League Championship with Mansfield. Sweet victory was the triple trouncing given Oliver Ames, the first time in six years that Randolph h1s broken the Northeastern jinx. The shooting of Carlino, Zapustas and DeSimone, the ball handling of Kelliher and Burns, records like Carlino's 43 points in the game against Franklin, going all the way in the Southeast Tourney and los- ing the heartbreaker in the final game, qualifying for the Tech and al- most making the Garden . . , that's the l96O story, and a hoarse student body and faculty will never forget git.
