FOREWORD IN exhibiting the blossom ol' the l'll'JLlAN'l'lll7S for another year the lfdilors claim a lll0IllClli,,S attention, especially from three classes of people. 'l'o those who planted the seed and succeeded in bringing to perfection such a creditable specimen of the plant they wish to render most hearty thanks for the guidance and assistance that has come from sueh a sturdy beginning. From the on-look- ers at the Flower Show they wish to bespeak indulgence for their short-eomings and forbearance forthe long-colnings. When they have ent a spectator it has been for love ot' the spectator, or of a joke, and throughout all their work their endeavor has been to give to the Randolph-Macon students of 1902 :1 vol- ume that will ever keep fresh in their memories the joys and sorrows, trials :mtl conquests of their college lit'e, and the personalities of their fellow-students. To the gardeners into whose hands this tlower is to fall next year they would say fertilize the ground early, dig it Qficn, water constantly, and take courage from Charles Dudley NVarner to wage war on the U pusley. So may our lovely Sunflower bloom on from year to year, coming ever nearer to perfection and lifting our ideals and accomplishments with it. lVe are eon- tent to be the Elizabeths of the second year.
