QNX G W 0 X sf cfs I7 gi xl J 0 31, w- MUSIC The 1952 53 year was a tremendous musrc year for the Randolph Central School Thrs was the frrst year wrth Mr Fox and havrng many new mstruments, the year was begun wrth antrcrpatron A strrng band, whrch later rn the year drvrded rnto a band and orchestra mixed chorus and grrls chorus were organrzed and plans begun Startrng rn September, here rs a brref resume of the musrcal events of the school year Most of September was spent organrzmg and making plans Lessons were start ed and many students took a new rnterest rn berng rn band and the choruses Wrth the new rnstrumenrs and so many takrng lessons, Mr Fox was kept a very busy man Wrthout too much practice or experrence, the ftrst evenrng band concert was grven on October 23 Tlus was the fust of frve concerts to be grven and was qurte successful Immedrately afterwards, the musrc department began to work on the many thrngs that had to be done rn order to have the Sectxonal All State Festrval here the 14th and 15th of November This was really the big event of the year, wrth students conung from the southwestern sectron of New York State to take part rn the chorus, orchestra and band Although rt tnvolved a great deal of work rt was a pleasure to have the Festrval rn Randolph The year ended wrth the annual Christmas Concert, December 22 Thrs featured january brought exams and there wasn't too much extra trme for musrc The band did prepare for the second evenrng concert grven the 4th of February One week later, February llth, the same concert was grven rn an exchange assembly wrth Franklrnvrlle at 10 30 rn their hrgh school auditorium Thrs was a success but mrssmg a whole day of school was qurte hard for the band membersl? February 20th, the band gave a concert tn the audrtonum 10th perrod We were thnlled this year to send two of the r horus members Cladys Mrghells and Robert Meacham, to Buffalo to take part n the All State Musrc Festrval at the Eastern Umted States Conference Bob ani Gladys sang rn the All Hrgh School State Chorr which sang at the concert gr 1 the 8th of February ln Klein han s Music Hall March was a busy month for the members of the musrc department The 20th, the mrxed and grrls choruses presented an assembly program rn the audrtorrum the 10th perrod Franklrnvrlle came to Randolph on the 25th to present then return exchange assembly The 27th and 28th brought another festrval Portvrlle was host to the county students who parucrpated rn the All County band, orchestra and chorus Representatrves from Randolph were BAND A Shannon, G Nagel, B Burkette, L Wrlcox, M Damon, D Phrllrps, B Batterson, W Damon,j Flood, N joubert, D Letro andR Grlbert B Eskelr, B McDonald,S C.rary,D Remmg- ton, D Damon,j Wheeler, R Blood R Horton, M Shean, D Carr, P Cole, S Lawson A Harrower,j Marsh R Meacham,j Kmght, L Mathews,S Grosser, K Khlks, P Boyer L Foster and R Iensen represented the ORCHESTRA and those rn the CHORUS were j Xbbey, W Flood N Lindberg, G Mrghells, I Pelton J Newton D Coates E Abbey, A Maull G Nagel,j Mendell, E Crary, j Snyder and B Richardson 30 XM Loy, E F ,ef ,I fi f U '. 5 ,I , . .1 g 514 ' I . 1 P 4 -p 6 , I 5 -n Q.
