John was born'in Tacoma, Washington, on July 29, 1942. Then, in 1953, John, his father and mother, sister, and two brothers moved to Garden Grove. ' As a freshman John played basketball and ten- nis, and that summer, as a member of Explorer Post 25, he attended the National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. ln his sophomore year John was again active in athletics and pursued his ambition, of becoming an architect, like his father. Then in May. of 1958, John was diagnosed to have a malignant disease of the bone. Three months later he passed away. Until the very end John never gave up hope and always retained the cheerfulness that was his per- sonal attribute. Never without a smile, John made friends wherever he went.
