Editor CAROL WATSON Business Manager LINDA BLACK Ramsay High School Birmingham, Alabama 2 Foreword Man was created to learn to live tn harmony with others of his kind— to give of himself and. in turn, to receive from his fellows. From infancy he is exposed to either an abundance or a lack of this harmony...first in the home, then extending to scltool and community. His immediate environment-facilities. opportunities, values—shapes his character, priming intellect and spirit for life on a broader scale. A school, a community...together they forge potential into a strong and vibrant citizenry. 4 Contents Introduction Activities Features Organizations Athletics Administration and Faculty Classes Patrons 6 Activity is tl e heartbeat of the school--enthusiasm determines the pulse and youth of the school. Excitement reigns king of each event... Classes grudgingly follow until the relief of the next event. 8 From the eye of speeding cameras on location in Hollywood or Oregon to the gridiron of one of the nation's number one teams... from the U. S. S. WASP to the fabulous runway in Atlantic City.. .our students and alumni claim world-wide prestige. Their talents come to the fore -- the same basic talents found in community and classroom. 9 A group united by common interests or hop- ing to form new ones... striving to render some service which will merit distinction ... each intent on being the most active and most honorable. Hence, the diversity which reflects civic activity. 10 II 12 From play to play and game to game the season takes shape. Win, lose, or draw, the poise and sportsmanship of our school is reflected an field, court, and diamond by anxious, cheering supporters ... by the stamina, skill, and pride of the Rams. The scoreboard tells the score. The sweaty, pungent locker rooms and bruised, tired players tell the story of the game. 13 14 On the drawing boards and in the laboratory begins the training of our students for tomorrow's jobs and professions. The leadership of Ramsay is not far removed from the example of our city's leading industry. Steel is a fitting metaphor for such guidance. 15 16 Classes... 94 1 varied personalities in hot or cold rooms.. .200 d3ys of frustration 3nd fulfillment. ..constant anticipation of 3:01)... wheels, dates, fun--in 944 different places and ways. 17 18 Perhaps the most valid endorsement of our city's faith in its youth is its financial support of its students efforts and dreams. From the initial ' please” to the final thank you”.. .sore feet and dry throats are our personal testimony of trust in our city, pride in our school. 19 “ . . . That this nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated shall not perish from the earth” .Abraham Lincoln 20 Dedication Time for you ami time lor me. And time yet for a hundred indecisions. And for a hundred visions and revisions... T. S. Eliot Time to invest energy and talent. Making learning more than a routine... Time to he patient--Unearthing skill. Demanding excellence... Time to imbue us with her enthusiasm... Time to laugh with us. Listen to us, Understand. We dedicate these pages to MISS NANCY JOHNSON, One of the elite. 21 A C T I V I T I E S 22 23 27 28 62 HSVPMS Ramsay’s Miss Alabama - 1966' G lorn era ta Beauty Angie Grooms Beryl Quinn Peggy Lane James L.
