,- TQ x-lL.2 X , ' 4 gifs W y :cg ' Q1 r SENIOR CLASS HISTORY 1937 - 38 In September this year 79 pupils enrolled as high school freshmen at Rainelle. This class, being so large, was divided into two sections and represented by two home rooms. Miss I-Iughart and Mr. Chapman conduct- ed the B and A sections, respectively. French Powers presided as president for the group, 1938 - 39 There' was a drop of eight in enrollment as last year's freshman class entered this year as sophomores with a total of 71 students. Two home rooms were again used to accommodate the class. Claude Payne served as pres- ident in Mr. Scott's class, while Velma Smith was elect- ed in Miss Williams' home room. 1939 - 40 From the preceeding year s enrollment the number ot students diminished to 68 and the class now Juniors was assigned to one home room supervised by Miss Arnold At the class election early in the school term Richard Hanlen was made president French Powers vice president and James McKnight secretary- treas- urer This year the Thespian Society was introduced and received ten initiates ll ive class members were also admltted into the Quill and Scroll Society 1940 - 41 The largest senior class at Rainelle for many years Q60 studentsl assembled in October under the supervis- lon of Mr Haught to elect oiiicers. French Powers was announced president with I-Iersey Fox as vice presl- dent and Orland Rhoades as secretary-treasurer For the first time student government was organized at R H S with a large representation from the senior class and Jim Raine was elected president of the student body The Yearbook Follies of 1941 was produced in a-tr1al representation Its success promised probable repetition in succeeding years.
