PENNY MELLOTT Prerident Student Body BEE HI Student Government We are Building not for Fame, but for Characterf, it being the basic principle for full and successful living. Student Government, by emphasizing the building of character through both individual and group participation, seeks to inspire each student to make her life a success as well as to help others. The Student Council, believing that wholesome recreation is a part of the foundation for good character, has inaugurated, this year, as a special project, a recreation room in the Forum which is open to girls and their dates on Saturday nights. At the beginning ol the winter quarter, Elma Stanley, retiring president, presided over the installation of the incom- ing officers of the Student Body. They are Penny Mellott, president, Freida Simms, vice president, and Ruby Ramsey, secretary-treasurer. Each class elects representatives to serve with those otlicers on the Student Executive Council. Seniors who have served this year are Anna Belle Tilson, Fred Stone, and Paul- ine Anclersong Juniors are Jennie Frazell, Annie B. Edmond- son, and Rowena Albert, Sophomores are Alma Rector, Miriam Dorman, and Mary Graham Engleman, and Freshmen are Carol Baber, Jeanne Maynard, and Oneta Stanley. The presidents elected to serve as representatives from Norwood, Tyler and lilladame Russell Dormitories are, respectively: Louise Thompson, Marjorie Givens, and Phyllis Campbell. The president of the Honor Council, Edna Loftus, also serves as a member of the Student Council. 161

Four years become past history as we stand at the threshold of the future but the ever-present guidance of our Dean from the time she first greeted her War babies will re- main a part of our more matured personalities. Moreover, his painstaking workin keeping our rec- ords, solving our problems in order that we might graduate, and taking a sincere interest in our future plans, will forever hold him in our admira- tion for his work in our behalf.
