Lois Rieser . , ,ei i.+,- I I V 1 U, feei-32,1593-i,E:n0 .gif XM, ufcgzji 5 s calf f if ixfkiif 1. To the Class of 1967: On behalf of the Radcliffe Government Association, I am happy to welcome you to Radcliffe College. Intrinsic to life at Radcliffe is the opportunity to choose between many activities. Within the larger environment of Harvard's academic, extra-curricu- lar, and social offerings, Radcliffe offers several unique organizations which are part of a dynamically changing Radcliffe. Radcliffe's House Center System provides unofficial contacts with faculty and estab- lishes a more workable unit for organizing special functions like concerts, art shows, and informal living-room talks. Each of you will have a House affiliated dean who is available to counsel you throughout your four years here. Besides integrating Radcliffe into the greater academic community through the House System, community government has been established with the Radcliffe Government Association, better known as the R.G.A. This body is responsible for 'cgoverning in matters concerning student life. Because both students and administrators are mem- bers of this new form of government, Qie R.G.A. can participate in some of the deci- sions which had been purely administrative. Committees like the Admissions Advisory Committee, the Committee on Educational Policy, and the Fourth House Committee have student and faculty or administration members working together. They bring their recommendations to the R.G.A. Legislature for debate and legislation. Organizations affiliated with the R.G.A. offer many activities to the Radcliffe girl. The Athletic Association works closely with the Department of Sports, Dance, and Rec- reation in its voluntary program. The Shield, a service group, gives tours to prospec- tive freshmen, parents and other guests. The Grant-in-Aid contributes the profits from its mixer, auction, and dramatic production to scholarship funds. Radcliffe offers opportunities for counsel as well as for activity, the deans, senior residents, freshman advisors, and senior sisters are always available. However, it is each girl's responsibility to seek and use what is best for her. Best wishes for a successful and useful student career. Lois Rieser President, Radcliffe Government Association
