With a record of eleven wins and three losses, the team finished second in the Met. League. Seniors Steve Marini and Bob Carroll played a vital role in Quincy’s drive to the tournament. The pair combined to give Quincy the strongest defensive combination in the Metropolitan League. Senior Russ Erikson was the team’s high scorer and a close contender for the League Leadership. Gurney BASKETBALL The basketball team had one of the most frustrating seasons in its history. The team lost to highly ranked Malden as the ball went through the loop simultaneously with the buzzer ending the game. In a play off between North and Quincy, the Presidents lost by one point in a frantic finish. Coach Finnegan should have a bright outlook for next year’s team as three juniors, Kev Mullin, Bob Gustavson, and Jack McWilliam played starting roles for the club. Jim Dixon, Denis Coughlin, and Lou BAA 4th place Tozzi, Quincy placed fourth in the B.A.A. and third in the State Quincy 56% Watertown 29% meet.
