BASKETBALL VARSITY Fred Austin; William Campbell; Dave Daus. Captain; Don Daus; LeRoy Kubricky; Carson Langworthy; Robert McDermott; Daniel Morrell; Dick Purdy; Robert Purdy, Manager; Richard Sawn; Leon Sleight; Dale Taylor. Coach: Mr. Robert Hughes. Last year marked the first basketball season for Queensbury High School. It was to be expected that due to lack of experience and lack of a senior class, the wins would be few. However, the Queensmen earned one of the most prized possessions of the Adirondack Basketball league--the Sportsmanship Trophy for outstanding conduct on and about the basketball floor. By the time the 1952-53 season started, the Queensmen had gained some much needed experience and seem- ed prepared to make a better showing. In league play they won six games and lost four, placing Queensbury third --quite a change from the previous year. The four mainstays of attack were captain Dave Daus, our scoring leader at center; and Carson Langworthy, Dale Taylor, and Willie Campbell. In addition to this, Queensbury High was again honored by being awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy for the 1952-53 season. 23

BASEBALL HIGHLIGHTS The 1952 baseball team, under the able direction of Coach Robert Hughes, had a fine start last season. Coach Hughes molded an active team from the green recruits who went out last year. Although losing all but one game, the team gained an enormous amount of experience from the losing of those games. The one win they had, their last one, was sparked by Jerry Monahan who pitched a no-hitter against Lake George winning 10-0. Don Daus, one of Mr. Hughes' best pitchers, acted as captain of last year's squad. Lester Baird, Manager; Carlos Bombard; Richard Crannell; David Daus; Donald Daus, Captain; Roger Farr; Robert Geroux; Richard Jones; Carson Langworthy; Robert McDermott; Gerald Monahan; Daniel Morrell; Richard Purdy; Richard Sawn- Leon Sleight. Coach: Mr. Robert Hughes. BASEBALL VARSITY
