CLASS AND SCHOOL HISTORY In the latter part of 1948, the people of district 2, Town of Queensbury, voted to consolidate the schools within the township. By September, 1950, the new building was opened to classes from kindergarten through the ninth grades. At this time enrollment was 500 pupils. Construction was still underway to complete the high school wing. This was finished by the early part of 1952, and the enrollment had increased by over 400 new stu- dents. We entered Queensbury High School in our junior year knowing very few of the students. After a few months of struggling along in a new environment, we finally became accustomed to the teachers and students. As a class of nine, we elected the following officers during our first homeroom meeting: president, Arline Farr; vice president, Marjorie Hall; secretary, Ruth Center; and treasurer, Donald Martell. Mr. and Mrs. James Cafaro were our class advisors. (Mrs. Cafaro was known as Miss Meehan in those days.) The most exciting year was our junior year in which we established the tradition for the first class ring, which was designed by our fellow classmate, Leon Sleight. We also were the first class at Queensbury to present a jun- ior play. It was entitled Bolts and Nuts”, and every junior participated. Since we had such a small class, a few of the freshmen and sophomores helped make the play possible. Because of Mrs. Betty Rooke's time and ef- fort, the play turned out to be a real success. After the play, we presented a bouquet of red roses to her as a small token of our appreciation. Five more students joined our class at the beginning of our senior year. Highlighting our senior year was the publication of our yearbook. Much rushing came about because of the late start on the yearbook; however, it will leave lasting memories for our future years. We are indebted to Mr. Barton, our principal, the Board of Ed- ucation, and the faculty and students for their untiring efforts in making this book a success. As the year comes to a close, we are looking forward to our senior banquet and a class day which we are anxious to make possible.
