The program which is promoted does not call for skilled athletes, but strives to stimulate interest in wholesome physical activities and to foster ideals of sportsmanship. During the year an intramural program consisting of tennis, volleyball, basketball, golf. softball, and swimming calls for the participation and co-operation of the entire membership. The Recreation Association also sponsors Field Day, a party in the fall, Stunt Night, Awards Day, and May Day. Qui' David Uvens Physical Education Building provides a spacious place for our various activi- ties. Our swimming pool is the home of the Dolphin Club, which is a club consisting ot advanced swimming students who have a degree of perfection in synchronized swimming skills. The Dolphin Club presents one or two water shows each year. Vlleeks of preparation and planning finally end, and the dreams of many people are realized as the boys don their tuxedos and the girls their formals and all make their way to Ovens Gymnasium for an evening of dancing and enjoyment. After greeting people in the receiving line, the couple turns to see the hallroom gaily decorated to emphasize the theme for the hall. A noted orchestra is secured for the gala affair, and the strains of music create a dreamy atmosphere as the floor is filled with many happy dancers. Refreshments are served during the evening and entertainment is planned for the intermission. Often couples rest their weary feet dur- ing the course of the evening while others take time out to visit with friends. Faculty memhers are present to add to the joy of the occasion. A figure is formed hy those sponsoring the dance-the Social Committee at Christmas and the Panhellcnic Council in the spring. Time passes all too quickly and the music ceases.
