Dear Class of l957: Congratulations on your graduation. Here is hoping that the training and associations that you have had at Ijutnaiv Ciity Iligh School nay be ever helpful to you in your further pursuits. lp to now niuch of your reading and learn- ing have been reouired to fulfill classroon assignments. Ifrorn noxx on the choice of material you read will be niore your own. There is nruch great literature in the world today and of course there is nuch trash. May I take the opportunity to encourage you to seel: out the best for your reading. Iwould especially reconiirend two sections for your thought and study. One is 'lhe Constitution of our l'nited States. I'his is probably the greatest instrunwent of its kind in the world today. It has been the blue print by which this country has reach- ed its great position. However, it is great because it has feeling and consideration for the individual. The Holy Bible is the other selection that I would recommend for your constant thought and consideration. While the Constitution contains plans for building a great country the Bible contains plans for building a great life. I recommend them both to you. Sincerely, ,eo C' ' CD Leo C. Mayfield Principal . ,awe , ,rms-rg af-sf , X, at ' 'af .. aw.. .I-p,,.- 1 Mr. Mayfie1d's secretary, Mrs. jo Ann Troyer, is new in the principal' s office this year but she is well-acoua- inted with the high school and its students. Mrs. Troyer is a 1956 graduate of Putnam City. She graduated in the upper five per cent of her class. Be- cause she was well-liked by her fellow students, she received the Senior Citizenship Award. She was award- ed a scholarship to A K M but instead, accepted the position as secretary to the principal.

KIRKLAND Superintendent The duties of the secretary to Mr. Kirkland are familiar to Mrs. Marjorie Hubbard who has held this position for seven years. Although Mrs. Lee Mason was secretary to Mr. Mayfield, our principal, last year, she is now assisting Mrs. Hubbard in the super- intendent's office. The responsi- bilities of these ladies are limitless. 1957 marks the thirty-eighth year of school experience for our superintendent, Mr. Kirkland. Seven of these years have been administered at Putnam City. During his administration, we have seen our school become one of the ten largest in the state. He has had the responsi- bility of nearly forty-five hundred stu- dents. During his seven years, we have seen the transformation of the old Arnett Building into a modern school building, the Construction of a large junior High, and buildings for the grade school. Due to the efforts of Mr. Kirk- land and others, a bond was passed by the parents of our school district for a one-million dollar high School. The preliminary work has been started and will be completed by September of 1958. SECRETARIES, Left to Right: Mrs. Lee Mason and Mrs. Marjorie Hubbard
