He has been with us five years and in that time has made many improvements worthwhile to the school and the student body. In deep appreciation we salute you, Superintendent D. D. Kirkland. During the years Mr. Kirkland has been with us at Putnam, much progress has been made - Enrollment, has grown from a little more than 2, 000 to some 3, 750 - New rooms have been added to the gradesehool buildings and more are to he added during the next year - A new junior high building has been in use for the past two years and improvements have been planned for the high school building. As Santa Claus must have elves to help him, so must Mr. Kirkland have a secretary to help him. Mrs. Hubbard seems to have gotten the nod, She has been helping Santa Clause - - er, that is Mr. Kirkland, these past five years and she does a good job, too. We, the Senior Class of Putnam City High School in the year 1955 A.D. de- clare the above doctrine to be our last will and testament, as signed, sealed and delivered. To be effective in Sep- tember, l955. CHass This is Edward R. Burrow of You Also Are There Likewise bringing you on the spot coverage of the Alumni Party of the Class of '55 on this, their 25th anniversary. Taking place in newly er- ected Pirate Hall this class reunion promi- ses to bring forth many of the prominent individuals of the world today. Among the first to arrive is nationally known comedian Jacky Adams and his partners in humor, Frank Funny Boy Chiles and Joann jocular Jones . Arriv- ing by dog sled from the Artic is ice salesman, Wendell Gadd, with his side- kick, Jimmy George, frozen toothpick salesman . Well, Well! It looks like the new Marilyn Monroe, Mary Lou Clark, along with her bodyguards, Bill fthe Wheelj Van Dorn. and Roxie QMarcianoJ Marlowe, has broken away from Hollywood long enough to attend. Ho! I see a group of distinguished ed- ucators approachingl Among them are Ronald Coffman, professor of German at Oxfordg Edwin Blackly, who stopped by on his World Tour of lecturing, Jimmy Cotham, famous exponent of the newly revived art of fencing, and last, but not least, Forrest McCoy, successor to Einstein. Z-O-O-M! What was that? Why, it's Eddie Easlon and Glen Woods who have combined their automotive knowledge so that tonight they are able to arrive in their new Hot Shot Ten The party is already getting under way, so what say we go in and see how things are clickin ? Over in the corner we see chess champion, Larry King, engaged in a friendly game with the challenger to his crown, jim Bleakley. And what's a game without kibtizers? So there are Gene Fern and Gene Weaver, financial executives of Prophecy the King Corporation looking on . What's all the excitement? Uh-huh! Seems as if Channel swimmer Dayle Fleharty has gotten a cramp in his big toe while swimming to the party via way of the Canadian River Cspring floods you knowj, so Pat Stone, America's answer to Florence Nightingale, is trying to res- cue him from pain. Speaking of rescues, Joe Turner and Danny Absher were res- cued from outer space where their ship ran out of two-for-a-nickel skyrockets . jim Buzz Corley, commander-in-chief of the Space Patrol, is accredited as the rescuer . This feat was covered by jack Birge and Sue Strealy, star reporters for the Podunk Journal . UH-OH! It looks like trouble . ln the center of the room is the world famous psychiatrist Dr. Wendell Benson, using all of knowledge convincing Deanna Hickey to come down from the chandelier. A group of girls are having a bull session so let's see if we can hear what's going on. Jo Ann Leonard, Margaret Durham, and Sylvia Yeoman are in a huddle comparing the old posters left over from the Annual Queen Campaign of '55 . Those two gossip editors of the At1antic Monthly , Carol Albee, and Dean Averitte are trying to get the facts from Delores Huckaby Taylor about her winning of the Bathing Beauty contest, Q judged by Warr Acres Mayor, Don Taylor, of coursej. Over on one side is Buddy Vernon, trying to complete a hurried sketch of Delores for Esquire Calenders . That boy sure has gone places with his artistic ability. Matrons of the Lonely Hearts' Club, Melva Crump and Phyllis Brown, are here tonightwith their dates - oops, wrong graduating class! Lady wrestler Margaret Gilpin and her tag team partner, Kristin Ockerhauser, are talking over their last night's match with their mana- gers, Patty Dixon and Verna McCoy . Yes, sir! The cream of society is here tonight. For example we have La Rita Dawson and her pink poodle, Ronnie Singley, Harvard graduate and professor, Richard Teas, and his slightly used joke book, Robert Nicklas, medical surgeon, who has finally found his place in life, and Donna Bryan and Sondra Emmons fRex- fordj, who are now sole owners of the T. G.SiY. Company fpretty good business, we hearj . Oh! We mustn't forget Patty Neatherlin and her hobby of collecting Bethany Letter jackets . Ed McCraw and Shirley McGuffin made it tonight, wearing their new gold plated going steady cufflinks and they sure make a cute couple . jim jackson and Stanley Abel have standardized the English language by compiling a dictionary consisting of 31 basic words . Is that right, fellows? Ugh!! Prominent personalities of the medical world are here: Olean Lemley CLimblyJ, famous tree surgeon, is con- versing with Bobby Morton, osteopath, as to whether johnny Thorne, dietician suffering from malnutrition, should be operated on. Dentist jerry Garroutte has gotten stock car racer Gary Wilmuth down, trying to remove a bad bicuspid or two, much to Gary's disappointment. That reminds me that after many years of bitter disappointment George Keyser's application for janitorial duties at the White House has finally been accepted, largely through the influence of Senator Bill Foghorn Wharton of Oklahoma. Two old PC 4H Club members, Don Renbarger and Phillip Young, have com- bined their agriculturel know-how for the purpose of establishing a new college, Youngbarger A8zM. Among the first to graduate from this college were: Bill Norman, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine... Eleanor Hall, woman land judging ex- pert Doris Mounts, food economist and successor to Sybil Johnson, and just plain Farmer jones , Ralph Taylor . Danny jolliff has gotten the girls in a daze over by the piano, showing off his homegrown Liberace smiles, and man! they're the most! That stage team of Glenda Mullen and Shirley Newsome seem to have their knuckles bandaged. Could it be from knocking on theatrical agent Robert Penn's door trying to get a part in Vernon McCord's latest play, Tobacco juice Road ? We hear from the grapevine that Putnam City's old stomping grounds have changed quite a bit and some of the Ex- Putnamites here tonight are now employed at the High School. Bob Estlinbaum is now the principal of old PC, and members of the faculty are friendly Marilyn Norton, art teacher, Tom Campbell, girls' P.E. instructor, Thurman Miller, ,Putnam's new auto-mechanics coach , and janelle Miller, one time office worker, is now the school secretary. Besides these distinguished personali- ties we also have with us tonight jim fOralJ Wright and Ray Stiverson, the traveling Evangelistsj'yci'1've IEW so much about lately, and Carol Robbins and Carolyn Shidler, members of a tumbling team for Robert Royal, head of the Royal American Shows. In case you haven't heard, we are fortunate to have the presence of opera stars Bruce Risinger and Clifford Roland. Looking around, we see Matilison Smith and Earl Johnson, those well known play- boy Romeos who are currently beating Ruberosa's time, talking to Margaret Shelton and Charlotte Schneider, co- owners of a horse ranch. Margaret paints 'em and Charlotte breaks 'em, or vice versa. News! Those two guys are prominent figures in the sports world. They are the old pros themselves, Bill Riddell and Howard Roberson, now playing baseball in the majors - big time! Well, here come David Cooper and james Gillilan, Olympic track stars, arriving late at the party, but soon enough to break their old record. Did you get that time, Mr. Burney? That Fuller brush man, Doyle Pickard, has gotten his old school buddy and pre- sent mouse trap salesman, Dick Red, into a corner trying to make a deal. Wow! Ray and Eugene judkins, much to the amazement of the onlookers, are demon- strating the rassling holds which won them the '55 State championship. Even David Tate and johnny Hopkins, psychology book salesman who are here tonight with their surplus Coffey-autographed originals, are looking on wide-eyed . But where are the, girls'? Looks like something else has captured their atten- tion. They've got poor Darrel Wagner, hair stylist, up against the wall- seems the girls got wind of his latest creation, The Droople . Trying to rescue him are his assistants, Dean Stone and Sue Proctor. Over at the juke box we see Eddie Lewis Neatherlin and his boys, Don Hotlips b, Gene Drumsticks Moni r, an Cecil Sli and Sli layto playing the A ma Mater accomp- anied by a quartet of singers consisting of Bill Brewer, Bill Campbell, Carol Coln and Marie Rodkey. We switch you to the far corner for an interview with those stamp collecting wall flowers, Danny Buck and Harold Weaver who have given up old talents for this new interest. Can we have a few words from you, Mr. Buck? Wow, a genuine New Guinea! Good party tonight, folks, great party. Avon Bathe and Bobby Alexander, manufacturers of toy hot rods are here . Kay Bridwell and Mary Ann Broady, airline stewardesses for Dennis Birtciel, present owner of Braniff Company, have flown in from New York to be with us tonight. Looking around me I see that some of the Putnam girls have finally realized their highest ambition, namely, to get married. Beatrice Walker sacrificed her model- ing job at Macy's in order to become head of a happy home fand thirteen kids, I might add! . Housewives Onema Jo Orr, Alverna Kincaid, and Wanda Mace are in a group comparing snapshots of hubby and the kids and discussing in general their married lives . There's a rumor going around that after 25 years of en- gagement Nadine Perry and Ann Higgins may be getting married. From the look of anticipation on the face of the crowd I should think that it is just about time for refreshments . Those connoisseurs of fine foods who prepared this big feed are Madena Pendergraft, originator of Mother Moegle's Shrimp Sauce, Joyce Pyle and her snuff flavored hors d'oevres and Melvin Menser and his fabulous mince pies. Really de-licious! l UH-OH! Guess what 8 little envy among the girls has led to! What else but a contest for the best dressed female present! Dorothy Cotton's cotton dress with Spanish pieces of eight sewn on as sequins is certainly original, and jean Guthery's plunging waistline is quite different, to say the least, but Kathleen Closets-full Wimbray wins in a runaway. Personally, I don't see how anybody could even walk in a tight form fitting whajamacallit like that - wow! lt is the finished product of the craft of French designers Gene Fowler, who also managed to attend tonight. june Parrish is solid mouth tonight talking about that new movie star, Junior Smith. june says he's real deep purple, ' man! Of course, Junior isn't the only Putnamite who made good in Hollywood. J. R. Adams and Ronald Cammack, financial wizards of Toys for Tots, In- corporated are playing tic-tac-toe on the backs of the old '55 wrestling uniforms . Carolyn Sue Holt, dance instructor, is trying hard to teach Rubbery Legs Bobby McGee, head executive of the Kerr- McGee Oil Company, the tip toe tumbo. The two Lombards, Philip and Elvan, the boys who followed in Dad's footsteps to become co-owners of Lombard's Feed, are here making the most of the pinball machine . Lady plumbers Carol Whitfield and Norma Wemple are having a big time bowling. My, doesn't that bald headed man look surprised as the girls reach for his crainium with the mistaken idea that it is a flesh colored bowling ball? Why! It's Bennie Williams, President of the Brick Layers' Society, and he used to have such a nice mop of curly hair . F ranky Marler and Donneta jones are having many good times playing hop scotch on our new Qfinallyj basketball court. I notice that a few more alumni have entered since the party began. Scientific- minded Phil Day and Don Duncan have come tonight wearing their invention, the 3 television set, that can be worn over the eye ball. Bill Beamer, our drum major, has finally returned from college with a major drummer's degree and is he ever givin' the girls a thrill! Sue Stinky Stinchcomb and Karen Gra- gson got starring roles in the revised version of Uncle Tom's Cabin. This spacious Pirate Hall certainly has an adequate recreation center and some of the alumni are really putting it to good use . Lorraine Forman makes a terrific back hand slam to nose out a opponent jerry White in the ping pong finals . May we have a few words from you, champ? It was a good clean, honest match, but I won, anyway. And what do you have to say, Jerry? Well, you know how it is, Win a few, lose a few, that's life. Ramona Guthrie and Connie Roberts, secretarial wizards employed by johnny Long, owner of the Empire State Building, are present. Shirley A . McC1ung antique collector, is trying to talk Larry Nailon, used car salesman, out of his ol' '52 Jewel . Housewives Jackie Carter and Aleta Shetley had a hard time finding a baby sitter for their many children, but finally rented a baby buggy from Indian Trader Ida Lou Johnson Qwho also has an ample supply of chorus robesj and came tonight wheeling their brood around . jim Van Horn and Charles Partin, financial brokers, appear to be having great fun riding the circular escalator. Those well-to-do bachelors Melvin and Alvin Lawson are here, and at last we can tell them apart. Melvin is bald! fOr is it Alvin?J Arnold Grove, bug collector, is driving the girls mad lowering a spider down their backs from the balcony. Charles Faison and Lee Penick, tatoo- ists, are having a fight trying to put a heart on the back of jackie Chatman, lady taxi driver. Skating in from Chicago are members of the Roller Derby team, Francis Cooper, Nora Mae Ritchie, Sher- rill Hodgson, and Kay QBrooksD Smith. I-low athleticl' That appears to be all of the gang except - let's face it, there has to be at least one bum among these persons of distinction, but Dale Watson doesn't like to be called a hobo. He considers himself a traveling man. It seems our time is up ladies and gentlemen, and we are glad to have brought you this on the spot telecast from Pirate Hall, and now this is your friend, Edward R. Burrow, saying Goodnight , and leaving you with this one thought, It's been real, and it could happen to you! 'rv'-N ,Q ,K A , f Q X. , 1 Q it , 4l I yr a VI: , A HUIUGQQHPHS V - !
