The Student Cou ncil, composed of class and homeroom presidents, and led by the president and vice president of the student body, is the coordinator of student activities. Bobby Owen, president, and Randall Proffitt, vice president, were elected by the student body. Helen Manuel, secretary; Johnny Houston, treasurer; and Verl Ann Owens, chaplain, were elected by the council from its membership. Faculty adviser is Miss Emma Gallimore. The success of student activities at Pulaski High School depends on the participation and cooperation of all students and faculty members. The council recognizes this and appreciates the splendid support it has received this year. Among the many activities sponsored this year by the council are the following: prepared a handbook for all students, scheduled activities for the year on a school calendar for each homeroom, scheduled club meeting each week during activity period, planned a seating arrangement for assemblies, sponsored or planned weekly chapel or assembly programs and special programs for holidays, supported a new plan whereby all students pay 5c each and attend lyceum programs, sponsored Home- coming Parade and gave prizes for the best floats, entered a float in the parade, sponsored a candidate in the Miss P. H. S. Contest, revived annual Stunt Day with all classes participating, coordinated club efforts for the Christmas Formal, prepared baskets for 30 families at Christmas, raised $254.83 for March of Dimes, purchased 500 song books for use in assemblies, participated in district and state SCA meetings, conducted money collections and purchased flowers and gifts for sick and injured students, donated Thanksgiving offering to the children of Korea, publicized all school activities weekly in the " Southwest Times " and over radio station WPUV, asked all clubs to study and revise constitutions if necessary and file a copy of their constitution and objectives, and sponsored and directed annual Talent Show. fifty-nine

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character. The activities of the society this year include: the annual beauty contest to elect " Miss Pulaski High, " an installation ceremony for the new members in an assembly, and a banquet honoring the new members at the end of the year.
