The Junior Varsity Basketball team, under the capable leadership of Coach Gene Hoback, had a good season this year. The baby Orioles had a record of seven wins and five losses. They defeated Draper and Pearisburg twice, took sing ' e games from Christiansburg, Fries, and Blacks- burg, lost twice to Radford, and once each to Fieldale, Fries, and Pearisburg. On March 6, they traveled to Bassett and entered the Junior Varsity Tournament there. Fighting all the way, they lost to a 6 foot-plus Fleming team 56-42 in their first game. Thus ended the 1952 season for the junior Birdmen. junior varsity basketball t ! golf The Pulaski High School Golfers are expecred to improve this year. They are led by Captain Bobby Ellis. The following boys are expected to share the load along with him: Bob Lynch, Jack Pearman, Jack Duncan, Doug Farmer, Doug English. They are coached by Jack Gillard. The Orioleltes ended the season with five wins and three losses. The team consisted mostly of sophomores who were inexperienced, but due to good sports- manship and team work, the year was a successful one. SCHEDULE Pulaski 51 Christiansburg 30 Pulaski 38 . . Narrows 66 Pulaski 37 Radford 34 varsity football the Orioles ended their 1951 season with the honor of calling themselves the District VI and Quarter State Champions. They completed a ten game schedule to take District VI honors undefeated. Then they played Lexington, the District V Champions, defeating them by the score of 29-13. This brought Pulaski High School its first Blue Ridge Regional Championship. The students of Pulaski High School will long re- member the fight and determination these boys showed throughout the season. We must take in consideration the hard work that coaches Vic Kreiter and Jack Miller did in producing a championship team.
