beTTermenT oT Things Tor The sTudenTs buT helps The Tacull'y To deTermine beTTer school policies.
The presidenT, KenneTh STaTTord, was elecTed by The whole high school near The end oT lasT
year. l-le was assisTed by Bobby Cruise, vice-president also elecTed lasT year: Evelyn Hall, secre-
Taryt and Buddy WirT, Treasurer. The laTTer Two were elecTed by The council.
The council senT represenTaTives To a conTerence in Fredericksburg Tor The purpose oT geTTing
some beTTer ideasiior sTudenT governmenT. The organizaTion sponsored a drive To enlisT The aid
oT all The schools clubs To purchase new warm-up iackeTs Tor The girls' baskeTball Team. A March
of Dimes campaign was also conducTed by The council. A high goal of SIOO was exceeded by
halT. They gave a Thanksgiving clonaTion To The WelTare DeparTmenT. They again Sponsored The
annual "Farmer's Ball" and ofher dances. l
The council TelT a need Tor a new consTiTuTion and immediaTely seT abouT devising a new
framework Tor The use oT TuTure sTudenT councils.
