For those interested in the intellectual rather than esthetic pursuits, Pulaski's Chess Club has been formed. Under the guidance of Mr. Tomasello, the members play within the group and practice for city and other tour- naments. Jr. P1'om Planning Committee. Row 5: S. Hansen, J. Jender, S. Kamke, V. Under the direction of Mr. Allman, Pulaski's projection crew goes about its duties in a business like manner. After a training course in film threading and splicing, they apply their recently acquired knowledge in practical situations. Each morning the clarion voices of the P. A announcers are heard at approximately 8:35. Each announcer is scheduled for a day of the week and is handed an announcement just about three minutes before "air time." The 1962-1963 announcers were selected at the end of the last school year. Quill and Scroll is a national organization composed of members of annual and news- paper staffs. This year, 18 graduating seniors will receive awards on honor day for their service to the Cavalier Annual and Cavalier newspaper. The imaginative people of the junior class are put to work early in March to plan the Junior Prom. With one member representing each homeroom, many ideas are suggested for decorations, entertainment, and post-prom ac- tivities. Faculty advisor of the Cavalier Newspaper, Mr. Olszyk, assists Editor-in-Chief Kathy Burns with one of the many tasks that ,must be done to pro- duce the monthly publication. Cavalier Keeps News Current The Cavalier Newspaper Staff, under the direction of Mr. Olszyk, produces Pulaski's most frequent publication. Kathy Burns, Editor-in-Chief, aided by 25 staff members and Mr. Olszyk's journalism class, fills the pages of the Cavalier with interesting facts, editorials, and features. Three members of the Board of Editors: Karen Kirchen, Suzie Roensch, and Judy Kennedy. Headlines and make-up are a few of the tasks of the Board of Editors who cleverly label and place the staff's efforts. The result: a most pleasing and informa- tive publication about life at Pulaski. Literary Editor Carol Lowell, Feature Editor Jill Bentzien, and Associate Editor Sue Bello.
