Since its inception in 1951 by Mrs.
Dougherty, the Orchesis club has grown to
approximately twenty-eight members and has
changed sponsorship to Mrs. Newman. This
year the club selected a theme of "Literary
Rhythms" and interpreted such well-known
books as Green Mansions, and South Pacific.
Junior Orchesis members Chris Soltis, Barbara
Littnan, and Gayle Ryder in action from "South

Synchronized swimming began at Pulaski
many years ago with compositions presented
during girls swim meets. Eventually, Mrs.
Hancock formed a group which was later
named the Flamingos by Mrs. Dougherty.
Miss Vanderbeck took over in 1957 and the
name Natare, which is Latin for "to swim,"
was adopted. The 30 members are identified
