Our Rambler harrier team had a successful season in 1954, winning dual meets from West, Marquette, and
West Allis, and triumphing over Bay View and Juneau in a triangular meet. The '54 cross-country team did better
in the Midwest Invitational at Janesville than any other team in our school's history by placing fifth, largely through
the efforts of sophomore Al Tanck, who received an 11th place medal.
In other meets the team placed second in the South Sectionals, sixth in the City and also competed in the
State Meet at Hartford.
The Bellyachers defeated the Hopelesses in the annual intrasquad meet. Outstanding boys who received major
letters were Al Tanck, Bob Over, Ron Witalis, Dean Weber, Milt Sande, and Captain jerry Albert. Minor letter win-
ners were Tom Hauke, Mike Stegmayer, john Qualey, and Dave Olson. An outstanding numeral Winner was Claude
Bloskey, who did very well with the varsity near the end of the season.

With only three major lettermen returning, the Pulaski basketball team, coached by Mr. Norman
Gradecki, finished the season with a record of three wins and eight losses.
Prior to the opening of city conference play the team, having lost to St. Catherine and West
Milwaukee by lopsided scores, beat Waukesha in a thrilling overtime contest, 60-56. Trailing at the
end of the third quarter the Ramblers put on a tremendous rally in the final period to tie the score.
In the overtime period the Ramblers took control and won.
Following in fine style the Ramblers beat Custer, 62-58, for their first conference victory. Bob
Over and Dave Basco accounted for 17 and 14 points respectively.
Against Washington the Pulaski cagers lost, 60-54. The Ramblers held tight in the first half but
fell behind in the last half. Scoring honors for Pulaski went to Bob Over with 19 points and George
Cwiklowski with 16 points.
The Ramblers proved to be no match for the conference champions, South Division, and lost 82-45.
In one of their finest showings of the year the Ramblers beat West 81-72. High point man for
Pulaski was Bob Over with 25 points. Other scorers were George Cwiklowski 17 points, Allen Ripple 14
points, and Dave Basco 12 points.
The Ramblers then got in a rut and lost three straight, being defeated by Lincoln 61-51, Juneau 73-
58, and Tech 64-54. Regaining the winning way, Pulaski beat Bay View 65-48. The Ramblers had a fine
shooting percentage of 75.1 percent. Leading scorer was Bob Over with 24 points.
The Ramblers lost a heartbreaker to East, 69-60. Leading through most of the game the Ramblers
were outplayed in the final period. Bill Poulter did a fine job of rebounding in the second half. Be-
cause of a badly sprained ankle Bob Over played only the first half of the game. This injury put him out
of action for the rest of the season.
Not being able to find the range the Ramblers lost their remaining games to North 63-53, and to
Rufus King 71-55.
With the return of four of the five starters Coach Gradecki is looking forward to a big season
