1 Groups Provide Music And Spirit This year's 18 member orchestra had an eventful year. They took trips to the Tucson Opera, Tucson Symphony and S.A.L.O.C. productions. The orchestra rehearsed dur- ing 2nd period every day in the band room. One of their many performances this year was at Pueblo's traditional Christmas concert. Ms. Mary Gilmer, their instructor, has been at Pueblo for two years. She has a Bachelor's degree in music education. The Junior Varsity Cheerleaders were made up of eight sophomores. They started their practices in the summer with a few fund roisers. By selling key chains and having a few car washes they raised enough money for cheering uniforms. The girls were lead by head cheerleaders Yen Ky and Denise Ochoa and encouraged by sponsor Mrs. McNamara. Mrs. McNamara felt that they had improved more and more each day and was very proud of their performances. 11 Sophomore class enjoys the 1961-62 fall pep assembly. 25 The fall pep assembly gave the junlor varsity cheerleaders a great start off for pep and participation, 39 Yen Ky and Denise Ochoo encouraged the group by being the spirited leaders of the squad. 45 1981-82junIor varsity cheerleaders are: Bottom row, Yen Ky. With a new attitude they surprised the fans by showing their Warrior pride with a new sponsor, Jennifer McNamara. This last past summer head cheerleaders Annabelle Nunez and Annette Estrada gathered up the girls and held car washes. They were just as active during the school year by showing off a new routine at the annual mixer dance, which is a dance that welcomes the incoming freshman. The cheerleaders also sold candies to raise money for the new cheerleading suits. These girls had a lot of support from their sponsor Ms. McNamara, a U of A graduate, and former cheerleader herself. Ms. McNamara was a reading teacher at Utter- back Jr. High, she taught home economic as well as being the cheerleaders' sponsor. 15 Showing their spirits are Cbottom row left to rightb Noro Coronado, Mascot Gloria Baron and Maria Lopez. Second row are, Dena Hackworth, Cecila Barboa, Perla Maldonado, Endo Maldonado and Annette Estrada. lop rowl are, Annabelle Nunez, Josie Martinez and Evelyn Matus. 27 Annabelle Nunez leads the fans in a spirit raising pep song. CJD Pueblo's famous mascot is Wally Warrior alias, Louis Canstanado. 45 Homecoming sparks a light, reuniting former cheerleaders with their old sport and companions. 55 As the varsity and jv cheers take a break a warrior breaks a tackle and heads for a touchdown. 65 Co-captains Annette Estrada and Annabelle Nunez demonstrate a new routine. 73 Warriors, we soon will be, is probably what these two young mascots Gloria Barron and Vanessa Martinez are thinking. 7 Varsity Cheerleaders 83
