Through work projects, bake sales, concert sales, and remuneration for concerts given outside of Princeton, the Orchestra Club has been able to finance such projects as trips to the Metropolitan Opera, the purchase of concert apparel, and musical picnics. Schwartz. 154 Peer Group: Not just talk by Arlela Gross Although the Peer Group involves over one hundred students in Princeton High School, many of us are complete- ly unaware of what it does. Each enter- ing freshman has a choice between joining the Peer Group and acquiring a faculty advisor. Hopefully, one of these alternatives meets the needs of the in- divdual newcomer. The Peer Group meets every Wednesday afternoon for the equivalent of two school periods, and in a relaxed group atmosphere the freshmen have the opportunity to dis- cuss such matters as peer and school pressures. But the Peer Group is not for fresh- men only. The leaders, upperclass- men, make up two groups of their own. They hold leadership training meetings every day during fifth or seventh peri- od. These training courses count as actual classes for which the students receive credits and grades. Said Peer Group leader Scott Roney, lt's not just preaching and deep personal stuff. They discuss is- sues of importance not only to incom- ing freshmen, but to all students. Jon Roemer, another leader, said, The real purpose of Peer Group is to help the freshmen along with the rest of the school. lt's not solely for freshmen. We get a lot out of it too. It is not just talk, either. Last week they took a field trip to Johnson Park, and they have engaged in such activi- ties as a Give Me Your Best exer- cise contest, which included juggling and singing acts. The leader groups have big plans for the future. Said Roney, We're going to deal with things such as drugs like they've never been done before. 155 llhlllllnl . tl , i lilly' , AQ., . Throughout it all we were blessed with a coach who is an exceptional person, Carol Parsons. Even when we were at our worst her optimism and determination consistently guided us forward. As players we all have mixed feelings about the season. To some it was challenging and exciting, to others it was slightly disappointing. For the most part, though, we are united in our praise of our coach. Without her an uncertain season could have been a complete loss.
