img: 4 During our six years at Price we have shared many emotional moments. We soared through happiness and sadness, pride and disgust, gratification and disappointment. We were taught to take it all in stride for this was but a passing scene in the drama of our lives. We have attempted to revive a few of our most treasured memories in this, the 1966 Pricean. It is our desire that through our presentation you receive a fraction of the enjoyment we did in preparing it for you. Editor in Chief Angelia J. So it is with Price Junior- Senior High School. What affects one, affects the other six hundred. The year 1965-66 has been one of change here at Price, and, for the most part, all the change has been for the better. Reflec¬ tions from this vantage point are but pleasant memories of pupils, of the personnel, of events and of total school community. The pleasures of this year may be recorded in the fine school opening, the hard work of the entire staff, the acceptance of administrative change, the in¬ creased charge of the football team, the rally to victory of the basketball squad, the swelling notes of inear-perfections of the glee club, the perservance to excel by the band, the response to ac¬ tive duty of every organization, the premium placed on excellence in scholarship, and the respect of all for the culture, tradition, and heritage of the Black and Red.”. How can one measure intangi¬ bility ? How do you calculate the smiles of the staff and the stu¬ dents ? The extra efforts given to make each program a success? The surprises and concerns an entire staff has for one ? It is this and more too that makes Price Priceless! The moments of each day are, though decision-filled, a privilege and a pleasure, and, I am especial¬ ly grateful to the seniors for this, the 1966 edition of the PRICEAN. Like you, it is a treasure of mem¬ ories, recorded for posterity. Mr. James W. Bennett Instructor of Introduction To Vocations and Mathematics Service is a word which has many meanings. It means giving freely with no desire for rec¬ ognition or praise, building and rebuilding for perfection, daily commitment of work toward a In the Price High family there is one who exhibits all of the characteristics of service. The news of his death shocked us, for he died as he lived--peacefully, without much ado. He was an ardent worker who never felt that he had done quite enough to inspire boys and girls to strive for excellence in scholarship, character, and service. Through his teaching he kindled sparks of enthusiasm for intellectual achievement in his students by making the apparently insurmountable, surmountable. He was a teacher in every sense of the word. Mark Antony said in his defense of Caesar M The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones. ' Quite the contrary with our friend, for the principles Mr. Nicholson inculcated, the lessons he taught, the example he made of his life shall live forever in the hearts and minds of the many students who were fortunate enough to have him as their teacher. We miss his fatherly guidance, his self-abnegating and unassuming attitude toward his work, his unusual sense of humor, and above all, his complete devotion to us. Although we on this shore grieve for the loss of his mortal fellowship, we know there are those on the other shore who joyously welcomed him as he joined the caravan of other humble, self-sacri- ficing servants of God. |p Thank God for giving us the life of Mr. Nicholson, a zealous teacher, an avid leader, a true and devoted friend. As we look forward to the future and to the great unknown for which we have so long been preparing ourselves, we also look back and realize how short the time has been since we started. We have had time for fun and time for competition. We cannot help reflecting upon the years we ' ve spent at Price High School. Here we have grown mentally, emotionally, and physically. We have grown in character, sportsmanship, friendship and moral strength. Within these pages, we have tried to portray the many facets of our school days-perhaps the happiest times of our lives.
