The FTA, Future Teachers of America, is a nationwide movement that grew out of the Horace Mann Centennial in 1937. The FTA works in both high schools and col- leges. Its purposes are to learn about the opportunities in teaching, to cultivate the character qualities, to study the lives of great teachers, and to foster the development of student leadership.
