Hornet Dedication Page Many long minutes of deep thought and meditation go into each page during planning. The SPONSOR of Hi-Crier and Hornet— Mr. Orval W. Beck EDITOR - Georgia Clark TYPISTS — Mary Alice Jackson and Euleta Shaw ART EDITOR - Sue Walrod Front page of Graduation issue, Easter issue, and Christmas issue. Class of ’62 History With trembling voices and shaky knees, twelve students emerged as Freshmen in the fall of 1958. They were: Velma Cline, George Craigmiles, Mary Alice Jackson, Euleta Shaw, Sue Walrod, Georgia Clark, Harry Sutherland, Jerry Cantwell, Charles Johnson, Eddie Gorman, Bob aughn, and Johnnie King. They found that they didn’t know nearly as much as they thought they did upon graduating from the eighth grade. The Seniors didn't help matters any with the really rugged initiation they put the Freshmen through. Right away they got into the hang of things by electing as the class officers: Johnnie King, President; Velma Cline, Vice-President; Harry Sutherland, Secretary-Treasurer. They chose Velma Cline to represent their class as cheerleader for the year. Sue Walrod was the lucky girl to represent the class as Homecoming Queen Candidate and Annual Queen Candidate. She chose Johnnie King as her Homecoming es- cort. Harry Sutherland was elected as Annual King Candidate. Eddie Gorman and Euleta Shaw were elected to be the Student Council Representatives. Mr. Gerald Falletti, Coach, was their sponsor. Knowing more what to expect from high school, all of the former Freshmen returned with the exception of Velma Cline, who had moved to Mound City. They gained Barbara Epps in her place. Barbara made a big hit and was elected as Cheerleader. Mary Alice Jackson was chosen as the Homecoming Queen Candidate and the Annual Queen Candidate. She chose Harry Suther- land as her escort for the Homecoming. Johnnie King was elected as Annual King Candidate. Georgia Clark and George Craigmiles were chosen to be the Student Council Representatives for the Sophomore year. George Craigmiles left at the end of the first semester and went to Hume to finish the year. Class officers for this year were Eddie Gorman, President; Johnnie King, Vice- President; Charles Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer. With these wild officers, planning class parties was a blast. The class sponsors, Mrs. Doris Huckaby and Mrs. Virginia Machlcao, didn't think so, though. Everyone returned as upperclassmen with a new addition, Frank McCulley. Barbara Epps left to attend school at Ft. Scott. Euleta Shaw and Jerry Cantwell were selected as Student Coun- cil Representatives for the Junior year. Sue Walrod was chosen as Cheerleader while Euleta Shaw was honored with the position of Homecoming Queen Candidate and Annual Queen Candidate. She picked as her Homecoming escort Jerry Cantwell. Jerry was also the Annual King Candidate. In order to carry out their business in a democratic way, they elected as class officers the follow- ing people: Mary Alice Jackson, President; Frank McCulley, Vice-President; Georgia Clark, Sec- retary-Treasurer. The entire class presented TAKE IT EASY” as their class play on November 10. Mr. Orval W. Beck and Mrs. Joanne Chapman, class sponsors, helped plan a delightful Jun- ior-Senior Banquet and Prom centered around the theme GAY PAREE. Now for the year to be remembered!! The class was sorry to see Frank McCulley return to Pleasanton but they were glad that the rest of the class was still here. In the Student Council Officers election last spring, Jerry Cantwell was elected as President and Georgia Clark was elected as Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Council for this year. Mar-y Alice Jackson was chosen as the class representative. Sue Walrod was Cheerleader again this year. Class officers for this year were: Harry Sutherland, President; Charles Johnson, Vice-President; Sue Walrod, Secretary-Treasurer. The Hi-Crier was published by the Seniors with Georgia Clark as the Editor, Sue Walrod as the Art Editor, and Mary Alice Jackson as the Business Manager. The same staff continued when it came time to publish the annual, The Hornet. Georgia .Clark was elected as the Homecoming Queen Candidate with Johnnie King as her escort. She was chosen as' the Queen by the Student Body. Charles Johnson and Georgia Clark were chosen as the Annual King and Queen Candidates. Since the Seniors sold the most annuals, their pictures will be near the front of the annual as the King and Queen of The Hornet for 1962. EVERYBODY'S CRAZY NOW was the name of the play presented this year on April 19. Larry Laderer, Junior, helped out by portraying one of the characters. Mr. Joseph Reed, Superintendent, was the class sponsor for this year. The Junior Class had an excellent Banquet and Prom for the Seniors entitled OLD NEW ORLEANS. After graduation they went to Galveston, Texas, where they spent five wonderful days for their Senior Trip. Six of the graduating Seniors have gone to school together for the past 12 years. They are Georgia Clark, Mary Alice Jackson, Sue Walrod, Eddie Gorman, Char- les Johnson, and Harry Sutherland.
