The plot centered around the love affairs of Maurice Fitzgerald, a rich young Dublin artist, and Rose Crelgan, a wild Irish Rose. The play opens at the country farm of Colum McCormack where Maurice Fitzgerald falls In love with Rose Crelgan. He proposes marriage and Is accepted to find out shortly afterward that his cousin has been killed and that he Is heir to the estate and a baronet. Lady Agnes Barrlcklow has long been In love with Maurice and now decides to marry him. She tries to break up Maurice and Rose causing a mix up of Identity, and raging tempers. In the latter part of the play Rose and Maurice live onthelr estate In Ireland. Lady Agnes Is still trying to cause trouble. During a party Rose orders Lady Agnes from the house after a bitter quarrel. Lady Agnes leaves for Belfast. Msurlce also leaves for Belfast for some mysterious reason. Terry Crelgan, Rose's brother exiled In America Is restoredto order. Rose suspecting that Maurice Is to Join Agnes, spurns her husband and departs for a grand ball with her brother Terry. Maurice, thinking that Terry Is Rose's lover, decides to challenge him to a duel, but Rose and Terry return from the ball and the brother Is In- troduced and the play ends well. Mistaken Identity, flaring tempers, and people getting Into em- barraslng positions added to the success, and excitment of the play. All of the members of the senior class and two lower classmen, Nelson Grigsby and Gary Pruit worked hard to present the play. Last but not least we will never be able to express our appreciation to Mrs. Stricklin for being the director of the play. The 1950-1951 Hornets were divided into two squads. The A squad consisted of the players who did most of the playing in games with other schools. The B squad consisted primarily of freshmen and sophomores and was used for training boys who were unable to make the A squad this year. By dividing the squad into two groups, all boys in school, who wished, were allowed to remain out for basketball. The A squad was made up of Eddio Brillhart, Lawrence Carrel, Everett Coon, Marlon Earl Farley, Nelson Grigsby, K. W. Harkness, Captain Bobby Holmes, John Holsinger, Donald Paddock, Eddie Streeter, Kenneth Shroyer, Howard Sutherland, Glenn Vaughn, Herschel Stahlman, Bert Curry, and Frank White. After a slow start, which resulted in losses in their first two games, the Hornets started rolling and won second place in the Linn County League, third place in the Linn County Tourna- ment, and second place at the District Tournament at Moran. The season ended at the Regional Tournament at Garnet. This year's team had no definite starting five. With twelve boys of about the same ability, the lineup was changed from game to game to take advantage of special skills of the different player8. The mainstays of the team were Captain Bobby Holmes as forward, K. W. Harkness as guard, and Glenn Vaughn as guard. Seven of the A squad will be lost for the coming year. Forwards: Eddie Brillhart, Marion Earl Farley, and Captain Bobby Holmes; centers: K. W. Harkness, and Lawrence Carrel; guard: Glenn Vaughn; will be lost by graduation. In addition Eddie Streeter, who played both forward and guard, and had been counted on as a mainstay of the 51—52 team has entered the army. With all of these losses the prospect for next year is rather bright. We have nine boys returning with considerable game exoerience and these will be aided by a few boys up from the B squad. The 1951-1952 team will lack height but will have lots of speed and a number of good shots and we expect a good year. Betty Long, Darlene Odell, Shirley Ham Linn Co. League Linn Co.
