PREBLE CENTENNIAL - ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY Q.. L This school year 1959-1960 represented two events of enormous historical significance for our community - the Preble Centennial fSeptember 5-6, 19595 and the forrnal opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway fApril, 19595 enabling the Port of Green Bay to benefit from an in- creased volume of foreign and domestic shipping. The first foreign vessel to arrive at Green Bay via the Seaway was the Swedish ship, Erholm on May 6, 1959 - there were 90 this first year. The last arrival for the season was November 25, 1959. The overseas commercial imports were 31, 524 tons EB i Prix Ulm!-K Knot including domesticy which was an A increase of 75 per cent over the pre- I- . - vious year.
