The Preble debaters of this year argued and discussed this proposition - Resolved: That the Federal Government should substantially increase its control of Labor Unions. It was a thought - provoking topic, and all concerned gained a great deal of information on a most vital issue. The main purpose of a debate group is to provide the student with a greater knowledge amd aware- ness of contemporary problems. It helps the student by giving further experience and training in gather- ing information and evidence, the use of reflective thought, analyzing problems, searching for possible solutions, and evaluating those solutions. It gives the student practical experience in speaking and using language effectively to present ideas clearly. ' 4' NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN DEBATE CHAMPS M. Bins H. Showers M. David R. Rood. 4
