This is the state in which we, the Class of 1961, now iind ourselves. We are rejoicing in the Lord because He has counted us Worthy to be servants of the Mighty King. We have learned many lessons here at the Practical Bible Training Schoolg some spiritual, which we ap- plied to our hearts, some mental, which We applied to our lives, and some practical, which We applied to our experience. We will never be the same after spending these profitable years at P.B.T.S. As we publish this book we Wish to convey to you a bird's eye View of our school, our school life, but most of all, our wonderful Saviour. Our prayer as a class is that this book, by the help of God, may be a blessing to you, the reader. -.................,.. D DICA T10 +5 , -,v....... ..,, -....,,, MR. AND MRS. DANIEL L. CONN We, the class of 1961, with deep appreci- ation and great joy, dedicate our THEOLOGUE of 1961 to you, Mr. and Mrs. Conn. Your consistent, faithful, and loyal serv- ice to the calling of our Saviour has been a real inspiration to each one of us. You have not appeared before us in the classroom, but your daily Christ-like walk has been ever before our eyes. Your unselfish, faithful con- secration to the school and cause of Christ is the manifestation of the working of Christ in your hearts and lives. Our words are inadequate to express the praise due your faithful service. Only God can give that when you are called to your heavenly home. So it is that we dedicate to you, Mr. and Mrs. Conn, the 1961 THEO- LOGUE with the prayer that God will con- tinue to give you the strength and grace needed for the work you are doing for Him. K r x I ' I-. , 1 W I 1 1 I 1 1 I 'I ounders DR. AND MRS. JOHN A. DAVIS Dr John A. Davis and his beloved helpmeet, Etta Carr Davis, were two servants of God who manifested their great loyalty and dCV011i0I1 to the Master by their sacrificing of time, material things, and home life fOr the furtherance of the Practical Bible Training School. They were a couple who could say, I have one passion: it is Christ and Christ alone. To Dr. John A. Davis was given the vision of the school, while back of him, helping to make the vision a reality was Mrs. John A. Davis. These two formed a perfect team, working together in all things for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ. This great teamwork was portrayed in all their activities for the Lord. Dr. John A. Davis was a man of faith - living a life wholly consecrated and yielded to his Master. No sacrifice was ever too great for him to make for the school or one of its students. No obstacle ever deterred him from pressing forward to accomplish the vision that was given him. Mrs. John A. Davis was a faithful companion to her husband. She followed him and sacrificed with him as he gave his all to carry out the vision that God had given him. Mrs. Davis knew what it was to endure trials, burdens, dis- appointments, and heartaches. Her consecrated life of prayer gave her strength for these times. These two servants have gone to be with the Lord. The Practical Bible Training School stands as a memorial of their faithfulness and consecration t0 God. That which has been built in the lives of the graduates, as they have been trained to preach and teach, continues on in the lives of those whom they reach. We honor and remember them because their lives stand as a demonstration of what God can do through lives completely yielded to him. Courtesy of: DR. and MRS. To these characteristics have been added a deeply spiritual element immeasurably increasing the evaluation of your iniiuential power. We, the Class of 1961, have had the privilege of profiting under the influence of your life. We cannot soon forget the personal effect this has had for each one of us. However, the true test of our appreciation is yet to come. As we leave this school for the places God has chosen for us, the results of your influence will be applied in a practical manner. That which we have learned through your dedicated life will be utilized in the training and iniiuencing of others. We are sincerely grateful and very thankful to the Lord for the opportunity of having known you, Mrs. Davis. i 3 E Q 14 I REV. GORDON C. DAVIS, D.D. What a magnificent and mighty motto you chose to follow for the past three years, as a class and as individuals! Only our God knows how much this, and your class verse, Philippians 1:20, will mean to you in the years to come. May their words resound in your hearts and minds with deeper meaning whenever you recall the occasions when you repeated them at the reception of honorary members. Thank you for the privilege of being your counsellor in class affairs and partner in prayer. I shall cherish most of all the memories of class Chapels and prayer meetings, because it was there that I heard you express your joys and petition your requests and unfold your burdens before one another and unto our heavenly Father. Observing your training and growth in knowledge and in wisdom has revealed to me your expectation and your hope, that in nothing Cyouj shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also, Christ shall be magnified in CyourD body. Ishall continue to pray for you that this ex ress P determination may always remain foremost in your ambition, whether by life or by death. If our Lord tarries, the trial of our faith may be required of us very forcibly in the near future, more than mind can conceive or heart can tell. May your faith in that day, according to your expectation and your hope, be found in- creasingly magnifying Christ, whom having not seen ye love, and be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of jesus Christ. William Lyon Phelps said, I live every day as if this were the first day I had ever seen and the last I was going to see. , May the light of God surround you, the love of God unfold you, the presence of God watch o'er you, the power of God protect you, and the Spirit of God heal you. Wherever you are - God is too. REVEREND ELLIOTT E. ACKERLY Rev. M.A. McCor1e Rev. H. Markham Fargo Rev. Robert B. Manderson Honorary Members Hudson Taylorzs philosophy was to move men, through God, by prayer alone. Certainly prayer has played an important role in Our training at P. B. T. S. For this reason a prayer covenant was established between the Class of 1961 and our honorary members. Each has proved to be a great servant of God, who has thrilled and challenged our hearts with God's message to us. We praise the Lord for sending these men to us. May we continue to meet at the throne of Dfayer, united and laboring in one accord, to Spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Q - X Rev. Clyde E.
