'For the Lord God ? will help meg there- . fore shall I not be confounded, there- fore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. Isaiah 50:7 REV. Joi-IN A. DAVIS, D. D. FOUNDER The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. Proverbs 11:30 REES have always had a universal influence on the rest of creation. Poets have sung of their beauty, artists have been inspired by them g heathen have even worshipped them. They have provided homes for the birds and squirrels as well as food, shade, and shelter for man. As we look into the life of John A. Davis, we find that trees seemed to be milestones marking out his entire pathway. During an evangelistic campaign when he was eighteen years old, he was pointed to Calvary's Tree, where the Lamb of God had borne his sins, and the young farm lad became a new creature in Christ. It was beneath an old apple tree a few months later that he dedicated his life for the Lord's service. From that time on he was a burning evangel, constantly giving out the Word of truth to lost souls. In many ways John A. Davis was like a tree himself, for out of this sturdy trunk, firmly rooted in the soil of faith, came many branches--souls whom he won to Christ and trained for his service. Though he has long been gone to Glory, his influence continues to live on in the lives of his students. If a Practical graduate seems to be zealous, practical, and self'sacrificing, one should not wonder, for he, as a branch of the tree, will naturally resemble the tree from which he grew. --Woodrow Brown This page sponsored by Practical Bible Training School, Bible School Park, N. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all suf- ficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.' ' 11Corinthians 9:8 MRS. JOHN A. DAVIS MOTHER DAVIS Truly we praise God for the privilege of enjoying your fellowship. N witnessing your sympathetic, buoyant spirit, and receiving your priceless gift of under- standing, many of us have been quickened in conquering temptation and discouragement. Your inspiring faith, the mellowness and fragrance of your life, is the essence that has reached out into the hearts of P. B. T. S. students. You have been instrumental in giving us much that is fresh and invigorating and inspiring, causing us to go forward with greater yieldedness to do the work our Lord has for us. The Lord set you apart for your duties here because you gave Him full opportunity to work through you. Your life is sacred and beautiful because you have lived it with Jesus reigning within. You are a marvelous testimony to the power of God to use an instrument completely yielded to Him. In the realm of devout Christian womanhood you are among the supreme. As you continue in His service, may God continue to make you a blessing to all those who come to this hallowed place to study His Word.
