During the regular season Coach Kohnke's charges were une defeated in dual and triangular competition with wins over Cow' ley. Worland. Lovell. Morton. Billings. Cody and Deaver. The statistics truck with its husy timekeepers and officials. Coach L. A. Louie Kohnke's Powell Panther track team won its eighth straight District cham- pionship with a total of 91 2,13 points to runner- up Cody's 62 in the District meet held in Powell May 10-11. Phil Waggoner. Tom Fryer, and Van Holscher gave the Panthers their only individual champion' ships in the meet. Waggoner copped the pole vault. Fryer won the mile, and Holsher walked away with the high hurdles. The local thinclads qualified 12 men for the state meet in Green River where the Panthers captured fourth place behind Rawlins. Douglas and Cody in that order. Phil Waggoner and Tom Fryer placed set-ond in the pole vault and mile respectively in the state meet for Powell's leading point winners. Jerry Frazier. third in the mile: Yan Holscher. third in the high hurdlesg Wayne Dawson. third in the 220: Ron Nay. fourth in the liroad jump: Darrell Pendley. fourth in 880: and Gerald Carayeau. fourth in the discus. were the other men to place for the Panthers at Green River.
